What is Monterey’s run/pass ratio? Looks like it’s calling for rain on Friday.

Last year they held Hampton to 21 points. Which I think was the lowest besides the championship game vs Westview. They are very well coached. QB is gigantic and can run. He was faster than Oneida's best defensive player, but he's probably 6-2, 220 lbs. Tailback is a great back, strong and fast. They also have a DE that is very good. They pass when they need to or if you start cheating up with your safeties, they will try and play action you.

I think Hampton wins but it wouldn't surprise me if this is a close game. Should be a fun one.

Are we your measuring stick for everything? We were a sub par team. Your comment is accurate, just not sure why you compare good teams and players to a team you yourself called bad.

I'd be the nicest one,lol

No Doubt brother No Doubt. I think it’s great for the father’s of players to come down on the field to share their thoughts, wisdom, and inspiration before the game. More programs should do the same. There’s no bond stronger than a good father and his son.

Go Hamptonites!

No Doubt. Based on their common opponents HV and Oneida on paper this game could be close. I’m giving Hampton the edge at Home by 2 scores. . Hampton seems to play up to their level of competition. And Monterey is DEFINITELY better than Oneida having beaten them soundly.
Hampton is awfully good at home against anyone and i see them winning by 6-12 pts. It’s going to be a close game regardless.

It was one comment about their QB just to show how fast he is for being so darn big. And if I wanted to make a comparison it would be very relevant since they just played Oneida 3 days ago and Oneida played Monterey during regular season.

But regardless, if you don't like my post, next time just scroll on by it.

Maybe you could do the same to mine if you don’t like it as well. I never said I didn’t like your post, in fact I said it was an accurate statement. I just asked a question trying to “talk football”. This wasn’t a single instance, there have been multiple posts where you have used us as the example when describing other teams capabilities. Typically in a manner where the other team or player is superior to our team or player you’re comparing them with. Just curious why you chose us as your measuring stick for others. I mean are we known as a team full of burners or something. You seem to have all the information regarding everything so I was just asking a question. Don’t get so in your feelings over nothing.

I think I will continue to post the way I want to post and I will just ignore you from now on. Have a great day.

That is your prerogative, matter of fact that’s what you do best. Make a post then if anyone asks you to clarify anything you deflect it and disappear. You have all the answers but aren’t willing to discuss your comments any further. You’re not looking to talk with people about football, you want to talk at people about football. Every day is great for me 8-) :popcorneater:

Comparing Oneida to Monterey and Hampton is a Small sample size, you need to look at how Oneida fared against the other region teams, also look how Monterey fared against the other region teams. Happy Valley is not a good indicator either, lost their bread and butter running back a few weeks back, See how the played Unaka before and after. Without him, they could do nothing on offence. If thats not enough ,look how SG played Rockwood, see how Hampton played SG. I'm not gonna make any prediction but people are smart enough to look at a Greater sample when comparing teams.  Just hope we get some kinks worked out this week and put our best foot forward.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
