TSSAA has contract with NFHS and they have the right to the game if they can broadcast it.  This blocks out the school's ability to livestream like they do during the regular season.  If NFHS is unable to do the game, the school can pay the $750 fee and livestream it with their own production.  I'm part of ESBN (BA livestream) and we've been allowed to do audio only when NFHS has been involved where we have camera on scoreboard and produce it like it's on the radio.   Last week MyTV30 did the game and NFHS was supposed to pick up the feed for out of town folks.  Many paid the $13 monthly subscription fee and there was no feed.  An absolute disaster!  This week, we're back and the response has been overwhelming.  NFHS sucks and it's just a TSSAA money grab.

thanks for the insight.  I have watched BA's broadcast and it was great, too.

Jackson still has two schools alive in the playoffs  that produce their own broadcasts. However, neither one will be able to live stream thanks to the TSSAA contract with an out of state company (NFHS). In fact, the JCS at NCS game was going to be live streamed by both NCS on You Tube and JCS on Facebook. Both entities were going to have to pay the $750 rights fee. Unfortunately,  the NFHS is coming in with a crew to broadcast this as some sort of game of the week.  JCS was told that they could do an audio only stream only and they would only be allowed to broadcast from the visitors stands. In fact, the JCS coaching staff is even being kicked out of the press box and they will have to work from the visitors stands at well because of the NFHS presence. The NCS broadcasters are also being ejected from the press box as well because of the NFHS presence.  This is absolutely Bush League for the TSSAA to allow this to happen. Contract or not. I urge all people to boycott any and all NFHS broadcasts. If your school uses NFHS as a broadcast entity, please contact your administrators and encourage them to drop NFHS as a broadcast partner and seek out other more profitable and higher quality options. Finally, call the TSSAA office and express your displeasure with the NFHS directly to Matthew Gillespie who is the TSSAA communications director. You may also want to contact individual members of the TSSAA board of control. I would also contact your state legislators and voice displeasure with them as well.

Unless we rise in mass against this monopoly, things will only get harder and the NFHS will gain more control while the TSSAA laughs all the way to the bank.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
