The contrast between these two schools is amazing. EN is from the booming metro Nashville area. Covington is the county seat of rural Tipton County.

East Nashville has been playing football since 2008, or 14 years. Covington High School was originally Byars-Hall High School. The name was changed to Covington High in 1970. Football began at Byars-Hall in 1921, so that’s 101 years.

But, when I look at some sources that might point toward who is favored in this game, it appears to be a tossup. I’m looking forward to the matchup between the Chargers and the Eagles Friday night.

They played football at the original East Nashville high school from 1930-1986 when it closed.

When it reopened as East Literature Magnet School in the early 90's they did not have football.

As it transitioned into a magnet school in name only, they decided to bring football back in the fall of 2008 playing basically a JV schedule. Fall of 2009 they started a full varsity schedule.

Didnt know til last week that AC Young was on crutches and a few other key players out with injuries.  No doubt will have an effect on this game. You want all the bullets in the gun this time of year.

Yep, AC went down with a knee injury in the Haywood game. He’s had ACL surgery, ending his high school career. You hate to lose an All-State player, but injuries do happen. I’m wishing the best for AC as he rehabs that knee. The Chargers have to push on without him on the field. He’s a big loss, but the next man has to step up and take his place.

Yes. His loss is big. Add that to a few other players out and it makes the game this Friday that much tougher. Hoping Covington can find a way to pull it out.

The guys have really stepped up with AC going out. I think he would have given us a big help with stopping the pass this week. Our DB’s have to be ready!
