I saw SS play a 7A school in Hewitt-Trussville High from Alabama that had at least two D1 players on it. I also saw SS play a very tough Cardinal Ritter Prep team from St. Louis that the shortest player on the team was about 6”1,’ and those girls are all recruited in to play. They arguably have about 4-5 D1 players on it.

What are you seeing @UCSportsFan? I’m not even a fan of SS, just of the game! They even came to Gibson Co and beat them by 30 pts, the same team that recently beat Westview. Do you think they really want to play SS? Their coach is obviously scared to play them as they try to play WV every year and they (WV) will only agree to play SS at home! That’s fear buddy! I honestly don’t see a school around here that can handle those girls.

I’m not quite sure you really know basketball though. . . No shots taken, but you’re obviously confused about who SS really is.

Why doesn’t SS go to Martin and play Westview?  Is that fear also?  That argument goes both ways. I’ve been around basketball for a day or two and I’ve seen SS play. Very good program with good coaching and great players. They are and should be the favorites. Hopefully if Upperman is lucky enough to make it that far we can play them again.

Dude South Side would destroy Westview.

South Side ain’t scared to play nobody. They played McKenzie twice. They can’t help that Davis got hurt. Played Gibson County, TCA, St.Louis team, Alabama Team. They went to FLA and played, they played South Gibson 4 times. This team will play whoever and whenever.

Only people like @UCSportsFan don’t think we play anyone lol. If they’re on our schedule bring them on! Also we went to Pensacola Florida & played a very tough Kentucky team! So if you know then you know!

Thanks! McKenzie to the front! Back to back!

And one other thing.  When we went to SS, class act all the way around!  The Principal took care of us for radio broadcast.  I love their gym.  It is old school feel.  I wanted to go home and watch Hoosiers after it!  LOL!!

South Side played Greenville, Page and then Upperman last year. Very tough draw. Upperman is a very good team year end year out. I do wish you could  take Gibson County, Westview, South Side and McKenzie and go play Upperman, Livingston Academy, White County and Cumberland County in a round robin where each team played everyone. As far as Westview goes, if I was a Westview Fan I would only attend just a handful of games because they don’t play nobody. Everybody in West TN knows that. South Side will anyone any time.

I think Southside would win yes but destroy no way!  Southside is great for pressuring the basketball and Westview would have the best player on the floor at point guard.  Jada would give them trouble.

You and me both brother. I would love to see that happen.  As for SS, I just give Hawkeye grief because he talked so much smack last year and then they got beat. SS has a great program with great athletes year in and year out so no disrespect only respect.

I’m glad you spoke up because I was scratching my head on that comment. I highly doubt SS would destroy Westview and there would be some years Westview would beat SS. Two great programs that should play each other. There are so many good teams over here in the Upper Cumberland in every classification that whomever comes out of this area is battle tested and have been in tough games. SS hasn’t even had to sweat in a game since December so we will see how they handle adversity if the game is close down the stretch.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
