The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame has a 50/50 chance this Sunday of having a second player for the second year in a row, bring a Lombardi Trophy back to Vermont Ave.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish

1. Kareem Orr (LA Rams) LVI (2022)

? 2. Patrick Johnson (Philadelphia Eagles) LVII (2023)

There is no doubt numerous other high schools in TN to have players that have collected a Lombardi Trophy & Super Bowl ring....if not numerous players to even collect multiples of each....

The Fighting Irish will come within a reasonable distance of the school with number of players who have collected. But, the number of trophies & rings a high school has probably want be close.

dont know if Marshall County High School has another player....Donta Hightower (New England Patriots gave them 3

them Colquit kickers and there father may be in play but cant remember if dad kicked at Bearden also...if so Bearden may be up top

bring on that Coacht world of knowledge

Booger just sayin

While not a fan, USJ lineman Trey Smith will be playing in his 2nd Super Bowl on Sunday. Former USJ player Trey Teague won the Super Bowl with Denver. I think it was 1999. Ed Too Tall Jones played in 3 Super Bowls for Dallas. He hailed from Merry High (now JCM).  These are three that I can think of off the top of my head who hailed from Jackson. I know of others from West Tennessee who have played in the Super Bowl.

A couple more Jacksonians to add to Reitz “Not A” Fan’s list, Artis Hicks from JCM started for the Eagles in 2005 when they lost to the Pats (Donovan Mcnabb puke fame). Jabari Greer from South Side won a Super Bowl with the Saints in 2010. Also, this is only Trey Smith’s second year in the league, and this will be his first Super Bowl. Many are saying he deserved a Pro Bowl nod as well. Go Chiefs!

Jabari Greer from Jackson Southside has a Super Bowl ring and Artis Hick from JCM played in the Super Bowl.  Not sure if Hicks got a ring or not?  7 total players from Jackson have played in Super Bowl.

I don't think Artis has a ring. He played in it with Philadelphia in '05 (I think) when they lost to New England.

Sorry Booger sometimes us West Tennessee Lowlanders have difficulties properly comprehending the subtler delicacies of your fine mountain dialects. Probably owing to different migration waves from the Old World…Macbeth, Northumbria, Maldoc’s Lost Tribe of Welshmen and that sort of thing…Kublah just saying!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
