from kreager at the tennessean, the TSSAA is considering a success factor reclassification for D2.  sound pretty intriguing.  they would consider the following:  enrollment (70%), region win total (5%), postseason wins (5%), region scoring margin (10%) and transfers (10%).  pretty interesting.  I think they could apply this to public schools as well to help level things out.

Does this need to happen in D1? Likely. But there are a lot of things they need to consider. Transfers would be the main topic.  I think it's different, and therefore, I'm intrigued to see where it goes.

Intriguing. I wish they included a factor for financial aid give also. But I guess that might mean schools would be more stingy with it and I don’t want that. I am all for students getting into a great school that normally would not be able to afford such.

Not related @theawesomebro, but one of our returning WR / CB just got offers from Alabama, Georgia, and LSU this week. A first for us I believe… can’t wait for the season now that baseball is over.

How you you figure in transfers when a transfer may have moved on by the time the new classification takes effect?

sounds like there is lots to figure out but I bet it counts whether they stick around or not.

My home state of Indiana operates with a "Success Factor". I  don't care for it one bit. It is also extremely wrong for D2 to be a test case. This is a very bad idea. I hope and pray this does not happen. However, if it does, it must apply to all schools not just D2 schools.

Have to agree on all points Reitz. First, how can you spin that it's "ethical" to penalize success or achieving goals? Next, implementing a rule for one division and not the rest...sketchy at best and downright unethical in intent.

appreciate the feedback.  what's the % in indiana?  to play devil's advocate, im not sure 10% is huge but I think the same team winning over and over is boring and not great for the sport/division.  everyone wants a shot at some point.

Everyone's record at the beginning of the season is 0-0. The teams' "likelihood" of winning a title are different, but the opportunity is equal unless you begin penalizing teams for achieving the goal that should be set by all.

Interesting that other privates are calling for this.  There is a divide between boarding and non-boarding schools in Div. 2

    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
