My thoughts exactly! I would really expect to see a 17-14 game.

You may be closer to right with the score. I jus feel like these teams are probably better offensively than defensively. So that’s why I think there will be some points scored. But don’t see 77 combined. But a lot of times the game you think will have big points turn into a defensive battle or one team throttles the other. Interesting matchup for sure.

Dyersburg is the goods defensively. The front 7 is really stinking good. Covington will have to throw the ball to loosen up the run D. I really think Dyersburg wins this one by 1-2 scores. And I would be shocked if Covington scores more than 14 unless they hit a big pass or special teams play. If Dburg hangs on to the ball and doesn’t do Covington any favors, the Trojans will win comfortably.

Let's get back to the Covington-Dyersburg game. The Commercial Appeal has this prediction:

Covington (1-1) at Dyersburg (2-0)

When: 7 p.m., Friday

Covington’s Skylan Smith rushed for 258 yards with four touchdowns in a 35-27 win over Brighton in Week 2. Look for Smith to have another strong performance because just like last season, when he gets going, the team succeeds. The Chargers begin their pursuit for a second consecutive undefeated Region 7-3A record.

Wilcox’s pick: Covington 42, Dyersburg 35

Film I saw Smith carries it 90 percent of the time which will play right in to Dyersburg defense. They will have to open up playbook to beat Dyersburg

If you say their the goods, then they the goods. I believe that. I just know how these kind of games can go. I believe D-burg is the favorite. I just will be shocked if it a large margin.

After I saw them absolutely dismantle Milan in a scrimmage I was sold. Milan is a good team and they made them look like a middle school team.

    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
