Indian
Saw a player listed with 15 solo, 75 assists, more or less. Another on the same team had a similar amount on both and they rank high statewide. Is that kind of stat padding ever legit?

It's hard to even have 75 plays on offense in a game if so

Im not sure how many each has for the season however. Edited October 7, 2023 by crow

TSSAAfootball
Tackling stats can be somewhat misleading. Your MLB or MLB's should always lead the team in tackles. Unless you run a strange defense where you send the MLB to a predetermined gap which some 4-2-5 defenses do. But in small school football where you see alot of teams rarely pass, your MLB can rack up the tackles especially if their team's offense isn't very good or if the team is running the ball every down straight ahead for 3-4 yard gains, driving down the field over and over but taking 12 plays to get there. As you go up in class in high school you'll see the MLB get less and less tackles because teams are throwing the ball on the perimeter and downfield more, more like real football where there is more of a balance. I believe last year Henry from Coalfield led the state in tackles for any class. Great kid, great player. Is he the best MLB in the state regardless of class, absolutely not. But in Class A and AA you are going to face teams that run the ball 95% of the time, and often it's straight ahead. The MLB will get tons and tons of tackles. crow
True, that’s why the single wing is so effective in MS and as you progress up in grade it becomes less effective. It’s easy to run and doesn’t take a great deal of offensive knowledge from the staff as well. Basically pretty much anyone can run it but at that level most don’t have the speed or discipline defensively to stop it. That said from time to time a team like Union City will pop up but it’s a rarity.
