One of the Largest Cities in the State?  I'm not a fan of either team but Cookeville isn't in the top 20 population wise in the state and a little larger than Maryville.  Everyone wants to play for a winning program and it sounds like Upperman has invested in their Football program the same way schools like Oakland, Maryville, Alcoa, Greeneville, Etc. have.

Except for the bleachers st the stadium. Schoolboard needs to address this

Absolutely no relevance.

Agree with that of city comparisons, but pulling kids from 75,000 Putnam County and competing with decent programs like Monterey and Cookeville. Cookeville is the baby of the schoolboard, just look at the facilities they have. Also competing with other traditional sports like and ones like Lacross and Wrestling. Most 4a schools don't even have those sports.  Macon population is around 28,000. But MCHS is the main show, RBS is the little sister. The gap and pulling power is way more equal than you think on the surface than just looking at county population numbers. From athletes in Westmoreland, Trousdale, Red Boiling, and Hermitage Springs finding thier way to MCHS. The more you win, the more you draw. Always has been, always will be.

I was wrong  cookville is the 24 th biggest city in the state which is big compared to Lafayette isn’t even in the top 100

I understand the point you're trying to make but Population around a smaller town isn't the biggest factor in the success of a program. Greeneville isn't a large place but we have built a winning culture in all sports and the championships in the trophy case across a rang of sports to prove it.  The School and Community fully bought in back in 07 we aren't pulling kids from larger areas around us like Johnson City or Kingsport

I'm sure the will here soon.  Greeneville stadium didn't look as nice when I played but boy have they put in the money to make it a top notch facility now

Greeneville is the standard in 4A football. Upperman is on a meteoric rise to the top. We will see how it plays out in the coming weeks/months/years.

Upperman Bees will not mercy rule Macon Tigers in this game and Macon Tigers will not mercy rule Upperman Bees. This will be a great game where neither team mercy rules the other team. It will not happen this game. I guarantee it. Watch and see. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

Upperman Bees will mercy rule Macon Tigers in this game. Macon Tigers will fold in the second half like every team has against Upperman Bees this year. Watch and see. I am UHSBees931 and I approve this message.

I’m gonna say Macon is reaching their full potential if they win this game against upperman this week due to the limited number of the type athletes it takes to win in 4a. Once again, a testament of the Macon co coaching staff and the toughness and level of football knowledge they have instilled in their kids up there. Macon just doesn’t have the type athletes that live around cookeville and especially Pearl Cohn or possibly Greenville Tn. They just don’t exist up there in Macon co for the most part. Shoulders in my opinion will eventually decide to go somewhere else because he is limited an unable to get the athletes to win a state championship in 4a and up at Macon co. Even in 3a you have alcoa until they decide to move up and they could beat anyone in 4a potentially right now because they have the right athletes.

Upperman Bees are a good team and so is Macon Tigers. Upperman Bees will win, but Macon Tigers will not get mercy ruled in this game. It will not happen. I guarantee it. Watch and see. Macon Tigers are too good to let it happen. I am your Captain Guru and I approve this message.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
