When SW beat Springfield 62 - 0, it got my attention (although Springfield is down this year)
When they beat Beech 45-22, it got me a bit worried, can't lie.
I've heard the QB is very good and some good receivers and they play very disciplined.
What is it that makes SW so good this year?

I’ll admit I’ve only seen one game this year and it was a non competitive blowout win but they do have a really good quarterback who is spreading the ball around and making good decisions. From what I’ve gathered they don’t beat themselves with dumb penalties or have many self inflicted wounds. Scrappy, physical  lineman who play bigger than they really are. Defense is solid as well. HC will be the best team they’ve faced all year so it’ll be interesting to see how the sophomore qb and handles playing on the road in a hostile wet environment.

That was my take away as well, not much size but still very good play on the line on both sides of the ball...

HC = ground and pound... SW = mostly Air raid..

SW has forced HC into 2 4th downs and short, but hasn't been able to get that big stop, and get off the field....Thus, HC has managed 2 solid scoring drives.

SWs spread offense is eating HC alive, moving the ball very easily and scored via  short TD pass... Currently, 4:50 rmng... Sw driving at HC 24 yd line... 1st down.

Typical Memphis special teams…. Trash

my senior year we played at Ridgeway in the semis, they didn’t have a kicker. no field goals, no punts, no XP’s. the only time someone in their team touched the ball with their foot all night was kickoffs. and i’m sure if they could find a way to do that without kicking it, they’d take that too.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
