That’s crazy to say. His son couldn’t hold kippy’s jock strap. King Berrong didn’t have any real winning until Sweetwater finally integrated. Berrong was carried by Anthony Oggs and the rest of those stud athletes like kippy & his family. Go look at King’s coaching record. His talent who learned how to play football before they got to him made him look good.

Apparently you didn't understand what I said. Berrong coached from 51 to 74 and no parent was going to do to him what those parents did to Slover.

Rumor out of  Copper Basin is that recently fired head coach Chad Grabowski is headed to Sweetwater as the defensive coordinator?

It's good to see he is getting to bring in someone himself. I'm curious if Slover is still there teaching or has found another job coaching somewhere else.

There's a saying that says that more things change the more they stay the same.

I'm told that baseball is having similar issues as football did, and there is a common denominator.

Parents - if you can't keep your mouths shut and let your kids play and the coaches coach, just stay your butt at home.  You aren't doing anybody other than your own ego any good.

Parents want to have a voice and an opinion of how things should go, but they only see gamedays. Its tough in todays climate to be a coach. A coach has to sell their program and explain themselves 24/7 to players, parents, and admin. Parents have gone from wanting their kids to learn valuable lessons for life to wanting them to be the star and what is talked about to the news papers. This hurts that TEAM culture that high school sports used to bring to players.

    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
