You can't expect kids to hang around after school for 2 and a half hours until practice starts, nothing good can come from that.   Most kids are not in position to ride a bus home, walk or get a ride and then make it back to school at 6.  So no that won't work.

this is just basketball practice for any school that only has one court that four teams have to utilize.

the point is kids still get to practice in the early morning or late in the day.

Just image a school that only has one gym and it rains/lightening outside in the fall. You have Football, volleyball, & girls soccer in season. Both basketball teams always trying to get in extra work when they can. It's terrible

Most coaches are tied up at school all day for the same period of time he would be on another job.

Tied up? You mean working in the building, serving the school community? Building relationships and being available for any school day emergencies, or top priorities?

It used to be that sometimes to get a good assistant, you might have to let them work at a nearby elementary or middle school, while trying to secure a spot for them in the building the next year. Seasoned head coaches and admin know how important it is to have coaches in the building, visible, and working directly with students.

There is also a nation-wide, state-wide, and Knox county teacher shortage. By looking at the job boards, there is a significant shortage at Central High. It would be shameful for any administrator to hire a head football coach and not require him to be in the building. I have to believe that CHS will require Lane to be in the building in at least a classified or job-embedded role. If he has any sense of how to run a program, he will try to find certified coaches to bring in and be on the ground with him in the building.

So much happens during the school day. That community deserves a coach and a coaching staff that know coaching football doesn’t simply mean practice and game day. It’s so much more.

The above is a great idea of how athletics and the educational section should co mingle. Forget it. The handlers and agents will not give up their agenda of running athletics. Whatcha gonna do?

The alternative is to watch student-athletes achieve temporary success on the field while they struggle post secondary because they needed support at school.

Who is in the building making sure grades are where they need to be to help with college tuition or to even be at a minimum for recruiting?

Do I wish all kids came to school motivated and on track with academics? Sure. Is that the case? Absolutely not.

Participating in sports saves the lives of some kids. Not just because it gives them something to do outside of school, but because (typically) there are coaches in the schools keeping an eye on kids grades and helping them make educated decisions about their futures. It takes several certified staff members to really make sure this is happening daily on a 50-100 man roster.

My high school coach was relentless. Forced me and others to go to tutoring. Followed up with my teachers, tutor, and parents. Hated it at the time. Can’t thank him enough now.

I was kidding. Didn't want to seem to sarcastic. That's how they do it at other schools in the summer so everyone can get to practice is the coaches have jobs.

Yeah.  That's not going to happen.

Is the new guy that was coordinating the defense  when Deion's team hung 700 on Catholic?

Neon Deion's offense did that to several teams that year.

Kevin Lane is a good football coach. He'll be fine.

    • The amount of people pooing on UH is crazy. They're a noticably better team than last year when they made state and were competitive , AND they run ruled Eagleville a few weeks ago. Now I understand Eagleville was missing a few guys, but they still. They. Run. Ruled. Eagleville. 1st single A team to run rule Eagleville since when? Pre 2017??
    • If that Yellow Paint is all gone I'll flat bet it didn't wash off there. I bet that took some scrubbing to remove that if it is gone. Lacrosse is one of those northern sports all these misplaced Yankee's that are posion to the community brought in by  (Blount Partnership, ( The Devil) with them so somebody allowed them to paint their markings on the field that cost more than the twenty top people on payroll at Maryville make a year. All this to please the 1% Club and the 25 people that would come to see it. All in the name of WOKE!!!!!!
    • They will probably, struggle
    • Dyersburg is going to be good, really good. As mentioned, they have a lot of talent on the way and the trio of Chelby, Joya, and KayKay will only be better with a full season together under their belt. To me, playing in Murfreesboro two consecutive postseasons will only serve to make them more dangerous if/when they stand among the final eight teams this March. Experience, good or bad, always makes you better. And not only do they have experience, they know how to win there. Schedules are coming together for all of the teams and I am excited about what I am seeing on the preliminary drafts on Dyersburg’s schedule. I know I am being a tease, but it’s simply not my place to announce what another school is doing. With that said, I won’t go into specifics. However, I am excited about renewed home and away contracts for the non-district portion of the calendar. I think west Tennessee will have a lot of interest as well.
    • What does everyone have in the final 8? In no particular order. 1. Eagleville 2. Gordonsville 3. Greenback 4. Oakdale 5. South Pitt/ East Robertson-- not sure 6. Richland 7. Halls 8. Union City
