BelmontRebel
The AREA tournaments are strictly by invitation. Many teams choose not to even play in their area tournament so it waters it down tremendously.

Bethel Springs girls played Friday evening in Whiteville, then had to travel 99 miles to face South Fulton on their home court at 11:00 Saturday morning. Selmer boys having to travel 100 miles or more to Troy. The host sites are on a rotational basis by area, and I'm sure the snow and ice played a factor in you having to play on consecutive days. Travel is usually tough on everyone but the host. West Junior High made that same trip 4 out of 8 days after playing Bethel Springs the night before the sectional started, and they won the whole thing. That's why tournaments are fun; the cream usually rises to the top.

And how many students does West have? saw they were beaten 61-24 in championship

Over 385 students in 2021 and 2022 and in 2023 they have less than 100 students in 7th grade. Seems that only happened when they couldn’t win state in 2A

You had too far to travel, and you played a bigger school. Just be happy for someone’s accomplishments instead of making excuses.

They basically let areas make their own rules and refuse to intervene when disputes arise. They have 11+ teams in some areas and 2 in others. Makes no sense. This is true! Upperman middle recently joined TMSAA and were turned in for the amount of practices over the summer, the amount of games they play and so on. But nothing came of it because they were told “we don’t want to run anyone off and we want more schools to participate.” Meanwhile, most schools don’t practice till 2 weeks before their first game… they out here practicing year round

Tmsaa doesn’t seem to care much about rules at the moment. It’s run a little worse than it’s big brother
