I know its a little early to be talking about next season, ok a lot early. But it is now wildly known that MBA will be playing national ranked (#4) trinity from louisville next year in week 0. I for one am very happpy to see this. Tennessee football has been wildly understated the past few years. Even with teams such as Riverdale Maryville and MBA they hardly ever crack a national top 25 (most recently that i can remember 00' riverdale was ranked around #23). Many teams ranked national such as poly long beach or many teams from texas go out of state to meet up with big time contenders and this is how they get noticed. I hope for the sake of all TN highschool football teams that MBA has an amazing team next year and can really put the hurt on trinity. Go win one for TN boys.

It is a very good thing for Tn high school football. This trinity team has skilled players bigger than most of MBA'a OL. These kids are 6'4" 230 running 4.5's. I saw them play about 8 years ago and they were huge. I wish MBA would have scheduled them in the later part of the year so all this talk that some are doing could take care of itself. I wish that Maryville would call MBA up and say lets play or scrimmage next year. This would still not satisfy some. MBA can think what they want about being the best in the state, but Maryville's first of three in a row sarted out 0-4 and still one the state. Everyone knew they were great at the end, but no talk of ever playing against any other state champion. Not all of the MBA people are talking this way, but the one's that do need to set up a game or scrimmage with Maryville. I am not a Maryville fan, but they are just good. They don't have any great number of D-1 players just smart good atheletes that will out coach anyone. Good luck to MBA against TRINITY, but it could be a long ride back to TENNESSEE.

PLACAL, MBA seeks out the highest competition available. In past years they have scheduled Pearl-Cohn, Oakland, Bolles, and Lincoln County after state championship appearances. It has nothing to do with claiming to be the best, they just want to play agains the best available. I know that trinity has a stud QB, but he is listed at 6'1 and 210 lbs. Michael Fisher is bigger and not a bad QB in his own right. MBA did not will not send many players D1 this year because the majority of the starters were juniors. This should be a great matchup. Trinity will be a bigger and faster team than MBA but who isnt? Thats why they play the game.

I am not against MBA at all. They are an exceptional team. I just can't stand the people like Dee Thompson who always claim that MBA is the overall State Champions. I am not at all saying that MBA is not capable of doing this, but I am saying that Play more than 3 games to become state champion, and play more competition. What games did MBA win in the Playoff's to to win the state championship. Who all is in their region.

play more competition? mba is in the hardest division in tn, granted it is more like a region. they play ba, mccallie, mus, baylor, cbhs, and ryan every year. their out of region games over the last few years have been Dobbyns bennet, pearl cohn, lincoln county, oakland, bolles (fl). clinton, halls, and henry county. for the last two years, the tssaa has required that they play a couple of DIIAA teams each year but that's out of their control. i'd say that either mba has one of the 5 hardest schedules in the state year in and year out hands down. not bad for a school with 3a numbers after the enrollment is doubled for being all boys.

on another note, i don't know how expensive it would be, but maryville could get to byrnes in 3.5 hours, and parkview, independence, stratford, and male in close to 4.

Great job to Coach Rutledge for getting this game scheduled. MBA is certainly one of the programs in the state that will play anyone, recognizing that a loss is not the end of the world, and that by playing the best, you become your best. I'll be rooting for the Big Red in this one.

Got a chance to see Trinity play a little bit up in the Ryle County Classic against Elder (the Ohio Big School State Champs). Trinity looked awesome.
