Locke was a good one. The QB from Hillsboro in 2001 gave Maryville fits in the title game with the load and midline options.

Alex Rouse would have been the best this year if he didn't get hurt.He runs the option to perfection.

 

CoachDG. Your team ran the option real well in 2000. David McMahan was a great option quarterback. He killed Maryville in 2000. That Heritage team would have made some noise had McMahan not got hurt.Losing McMahan killedthat Heritage team. Wroblewski,Franklin,Holmes and those other guys were tough as nails.

Yea, that year and '99 were great for us here. We had some battles. Which is the way it should be between rivalies. We were in the bone in '99 and the Wing I in '00.

My nephew was the starting Quarterback on the 99 team. 99 game was a classic even though the Rebels lost.

 

You will get a kick out of this. Me and a woman(Heritage fan) i used to work with had a bet on the 99 Heritage vs Maryville game. The bet was if Maryville won she had to wear a Maryville shirt for 1 day. If Heritage won I had to wear a Heritage shirt for 1 day. Heritage won 26-21. I had to wear that Heritage shirt that following monday. Everybody at work walked up to me and laughed at me. I lost that game for Maryville because I bet on them.LOL. I never win a bet.That was my last bet.

Injuries ended his baseball and football career. He is taking classes at pellisippi and he starts a new job monday.

Yea, that game was a war. It was my first year at Heritage after I left my home school at Lincoln County. I was worried about not winning a game, and we turned it around and went to the playoffs. We had Dobbyns-Bennett beat in the first round until a bad call on intentional grounding cost us the game. If McMahon hadn't gotten injuried we could have went deep in the playoffs. The option with him, Franklin, Wroblewski and Holmes was tough to handle.

Personally, I love the midline option. It is very tough on balanced and unbalanced fronts. I ti makes stunting and blitzing nearly impossible and it puts pressure on the defense from the middle all the way to the sideline every play. Play action is very simple and effective. A highly explosive offense that can also work wonders at controlling the clock.

I totally agree. The midline is a tough play. We might be able to incorporate this thread with the thread about speed and strength. The option, including mid line, puts such a strain on the defense, that an undersized or underspeed team can actually be tough.
