Good to talk to you also.

The Challenge Cup is being held at the Camp Jordan Arena in East Ridge.

Going southbound on I-75, take Exit 1 which is the last exit in Tennessee. Take a left at the light at the top of the ramp. After crossing over the interstate, take the first left onto the service road. It will seem as though you are turning into the Ramada Inn but the road wraps around the hotel and into Camp Jordan. You will see the Arena on your right.

Wrestling begins at 10:00 AM on both Friday and Saturday. There will be 5 Divisions wrestling at the same time...2nd grade and under, 4th grade and under, 6th grade and under, 8th and under and the high school division.

Take Friday off, check your kids out of school and come to Chattanooga to see youth and high school wrestling at its' very best.

Bayou Bear: Thanks for the info on the 8th grade Team Tennessee lineup. I was wondering when that might be out. I've seen most of these kids wrestle either in Nashville area middle school leagues or, for the others, in FCI competition, overthe past two years and I think you are right about the team being loaded with future stars who are going to have immediate impact at the high school level-----in fact, the Mitchell kid (Clay) at 135 wrestled "up" for the FRA varsity after his middle school season was over. He placed third in Region 6 and qualified for the state as an 8th grader.

Minor correction-----Bateman at 155 wrestled for Chuck Bean's Nashville Copperheads Club (which practiced at Ryan)but not for Father Ryan, which does not have an FCI youth team. Bateman is currently at Holy Rosary and wrestled for NCW during the regular season. You gotta be careful these days about what school you tack on after middle schooler's name-----it might get a whole new line of posts going.

Does anyone know the 5th/6th grade lineup? They won the thing last year and might have just as strong a team this year.

bayoubear, what was the criteria or the elementary group that was selected? i'm sure you know why i'm asking! although we didn't wrestle in the fci state tourn., i know some kids that did and won, but aren't on this team. was this group hand picked by the coaches or was there a qualifier for this team?

thanks, rcpatriot.

p.s. we will be there, late afternoon.

    • Sorry Barn. I wasn’t specific enough. It seems I’m always protecting the principal at 825. My interactions with her have been extremely positive, but very limited. With all the other stories being told, I’m confident there are other sides I am not aware of. Regardless, there are lots of decent people earning good checks up there. Maybe too good, which explains why no one is willing to speak up. My beef is with the poor communication among the athletic programs and with the administration. Seven years ago the poor communication led to my son missing graduation due to a sporting event that was planned months before. I chalked it up to the system being totally shocked that the baseball team made it out of their district, and our then AD was a football coach. Maybe they were surprised and did not plan appropriately. That was more palatable than they just didn’t give a crap. Déjà vu, seven years later, same thing. Different administration, but same result.  Maybe in seven more years, it will actually be “about the kids”. They should do better.
