Wait till next year....

Every year during the State tournament the question, "Who will be good next year?" always comes up.

We all know there is a load of Senior talent across the state this year and several teams including Bradley, Soddy, Father Ryan and McCallie will all lose thoroughbreds to graduation. It would interesting to see how many starters everyone has returning next season.

Bradley be looking to fill 9 spots. How many for everyone else?

Bradley-9

Collierville-6

Houston-4

Thanks botw. I'm trying to generate a new line of discussion that will be difficult to transform into a rock throwing contest. If this doesn't work, my next topic may be something like---"Will anyone be planting petunias this spring?"

Two quotes come to mind;

---"Experts? We don't need no stinking experts."---

and

---"Why can't we all just get along?"---

Franklin is going for number one next year with only one or two big scorers departing, and they may finish second this year in two weeks. Not to steal anyone's thunder, but BC will be back with another powerhouse even with 9 gone. Is that right sly and BayouBear? I may have taken away your hidden secret though. Maybe Coach Laxton will consider a D2 team as well. Well, we'll see.

I know he'll do a good job with his young team.

Franklin has 4 seniors moving out at the end of the season, but in the lighter weights they are stacked deep & neat. This year the guys scatter by gaining, expect it again next year! No one will be where you expect them to be.

Rumor has it that they are expecting about 20 incoming Freshman, and this number is after all the rezoning of schools.

I'll tell you what, if they get most of that group from Grassland that ran away with the HVAC, they will be fine. As good a middle school team as I have seen (along with NCW). I'm not sure they all will end up at Franklin though, what with Williamson County having all those new schools.

    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
    • I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
    • A huge addition to the staff today! Former Hardin Valley legend and Richmond College running back Aaron Dykes was announced as the running backs coach. Rushed for over 3,000 yards at HVA, with 35 total touchdowns. I loved watching in Hardin Valley. I can’t believe he’s at Bearden now. I know he was trying to get a HVA job, I don’t know what happened there and how he ended up at Bearden, but I'm glad he’s here and believe he will be teaching art class as well! What a good get for the staff!!
    • Thoughts? Gordonsville won it last year with a sophomore pitcher and returned almost everybody. Can anyone beat them?
    • I was kind of surprised to read this. I thought the general concision was most programs are going back to natural grass. Personally, I have never liked turf. I see the arguments on both side for or against it. I just never liked them. Also, I did not know there as an impaction test that these fields had to pass. Good stuff OP
