Best High School Rivalry

It's something else. My senoir year, we painted the ducks at the duck pond (with removable paint), painted a big M in the middle of their field and planted a Rebel flag in the middle of the duck pond for all to see. As far as I know, I have the only Rebel flag that made it back from the duck pond (connections). They usually burn the flags from the pond at the pep rally.

One year Alcoa came over and painted our field recently. The next year, the maryville kids snuck over and let a 100 mice go inside Alcoa High School.

I live in Alco unfortunately, and last year my wife (not from Blount Co) had the misfortune of coming actross that dinky little bridge their always painting in Alcoa the nite before the game, on her way home. They threw stuff at her car. She is now a HUGE Maryville fan and hates Alcoa.

Maryville planted big leland pines in one end of the field closest to Cates Street years ago. Now the school says it's to keep extra points from going thru the windows of the houses across the street. Everyone knows it's so Alcoa fans can't watch the game from the street for free though.

If none of this has transpired in your rivalry, you have no rivalry.

Maryville and Knox Central has really began to heat up, but the two are really too far away from one another to create adequate bad blood. No school vandalism involved, no mascots being stolen, decent bulletin board material though.

It's really more of a feud between the teams and less between the fans. I think there's a little respect there and that can also make for a great rivalry. If you wanna see a darn good ballgame this year, be at Maryville High October 22nd.

Last year went to overtimes... ;)

You were close.  The series started the year before in 1926.  The schools did not meet in 1928-1929, 1939-1944, 1953, and 1995-1996.  MBA leads the series 40-28-1.

Baylor leads the McCallie series 36-27-4.  The schools did not meet from 1941-1970.

Good research. Speaking of rivalries, they suspended play because of violence. The series started in 1907 or 1908. My late grandfather played for Roy Baylor. He claimed to have broken the neck of a McCallie player. I think he was just bragging!

Since play resumed after the long hiatus, McCallie leads the series 18-17 I think...much greater parity than during the years Baylor was a state powerhouse.

    • Upperman White County both will be loaded. Dyersbirg and South Side will be a handful as well. Getting about that time in about 3 weeks we start watching summer scrimmages. Dyersburg loaded loaded loaded with talent. Most talent ever I have seen in their program.
    • We, SP, blanked them 10-0 in sectional game during 21 season.
    • The amount of people pooing on UH is crazy. They're a noticably better team than last year when they made state and were competitive , AND they run ruled Eagleville a few weeks ago. Now I understand Eagleville was missing a few guys, but they still. They. Run. Ruled. Eagleville. 1st single A team to run rule Eagleville since when? Pre 2017??
    • If that Yellow Paint is all gone I'll flat bet it didn't wash off there. I bet that took some scrubbing to remove that if it is gone. Lacrosse is one of those northern sports all these misplaced Yankee's that are posion to the community brought in by  (Blount Partnership, ( The Devil) with them so somebody allowed them to paint their markings on the field that cost more than the twenty top people on payroll at Maryville make a year. All this to please the 1% Club and the 25 people that would come to see it. All in the name of WOKE!!!!!!
    • They will probably, struggle
