tngator, Lamon missed games 5,6,7, due to a ankle injury. It was a high ankle sprain that takes a long time to heal. He only played spairingly in those last games. Then quit the team after a disagreement with the coach, just before the quarter final playoff game with Oak Ridge. All that is behind us now. He's back on track now, and if he stays the cource he'll be a D 1 pick for sure. Miami is where he wants to go,and they have showed a lot of interest. He has received letters from just about every D1 school. If he makes it through this year expect to see him in a Miami uniform.

Patrick Turner is the best in the state. I believe I barely recall when Goodpasture played Alcoa in the state semi's in 2001, he had an off game, but he was only a freshman and you don't have great numbers offensively when the score is 17-13. At 6'5 it's very difficult for ANY high school cornerback to cover him. I' ve also heard many good things about Williams.

Brandon Warren at Alcoa may turn into one of the best in the state as the season progresses.

I forgot to add Jonathan Jones from Sequoyah to the list. He is a great receiver. He's 6'2 or 3 and can jump a mile high.....probably one of the top 5 receivers in the state. And to add to kpatt2's quote.....I believe he committed to Wake Forest a couple of weeks ago.

basically, this thread should be called, "best wr's in the state--besides patrick turner because he is freaking awesome". no one else compares to this kid, but there are some other good wide outs in tn this year. look for rahmel oliver from riverdale to have a huge year--6'3", close to 190 lbs. and very elusive with some breakaway speed. he will give riverdale the passing dimension they have been lacking since taron henry went down in '02.

    • Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.
    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
