CHARGING FOR FOOTBALL GAMES.

I think TSSAA needs to up the price to $10 or even $15 dollars for adults, $7 for students and let kids under 14 in free. They need to remove the cap you can charge as a maximum. Some markets will bear more than others. Williamson Countians will probably pay more than a more rural county and if other sports programs can benefit from it why not?

If a family of 5 goes to the movies on a Friday night its $7.50 per ticket and then a minimum of another $6 for popcorn and drink. I think the entertainment value is much higher for football.

I was sitting behind home plate at the Braves game tonight with 3 clients and it cost me a lot more than $7.50!!! They would have been more entertained at a Brentwood v. Franklin Game! Smoltz choked in the ninth and gave up a two run lead with 5 runs on six hits!

BigDog...PLEASE don't tell me you are a Braves fan. If so, maybe that explains why the Franklin band plays the "tomahawk chop" so often...lol. Seriously, why do they play that song? Never makes sense to me. Maybe Rebel27 has an answer.

It is my understanding that schools in other states charge the same to attend a football game as it would cost to attend a movie. This seems to be a fair way to set the price.

The TSSAA does not set the admission cost for any athletic events other than the state championship series.

15 Dollars to watch a high school football game is ridiculous. It probably costs less to go see Vandy or MTSU. Students should have a discount. Adults $7 Students $5

At Clinton, you could buy tickets for football games that week in the office. It was a dollar cheaper. I had a friend that still goes there buy a ticket for me that way for the Oak Ridge game so I wouldn't have to wait in line, but don't tell the school system that. I beat the system!!

Charge up to $15 for a high school football game? Are you serious? I wouldn't know if Vandy costs less because I would never go to a Vandy game. The problem with charging $20 for student activity fee in a 1,000 student school is what if only 20 kids signed up? Sure, that's $400, but then there's 980 students who probably wouldn't go to the game because they didn't sign up and they would be charged more than the 20. But if it works, go for it.

I actually like the idea of an acitivites fee. I know I pay alot for that at UT. Even though people don't like the "new" "Orange Nation" because they take up all the best student section seats, I don't care. I've got row 18 seats right on the 40 yard line for the Auburn game! Go Vols!! And so I don't get in trouble with CoachT, go Dragons!!

    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
    • Dang I feel bad for the kid. I’m sure he loves his dad and wants to do anything for his dad but I don’t think he realizes his dad isn’t doing the best for his football career if he keeps jumping schools.
