High School Rule

Gentlemen, My rule book is at home and I will look it up tonight. Basically, players are allowed to wear wrist bands that meet certain requirements. One of the requirements is that they must be within three inches of the palm of the hand. I will look the rule up tonight and respond the exact words tomorrow.

This rule is similar to the glove rule. They are allowed if they meet the requirements stated in the rule book. When I see players wearing them on their elbows or bicepts, I ask them,"What function do they have wearing them that high?" My response that been the same everytime, "It looks good!"

Wrist bands on the elbow or socks pulled down over the cleats. This is done to bring attition to a player. It doesn't make a player play any different. The rule on the socks will come out next year since the wrist band rule came on a year or two ago.

The wrist bands rule is in effect in protect the players in case a tackler get there hand or arm in in a it could twist it and cause a injury.

If players would just wear what the coaches tell them too there would not have to be new rules every year. like different colored socks, stringers hanging down from the belts, socks over the cleats and even towels on the belts.

The way a players plays is what he get attition for not the way he looks on the football field..........Try this this Friday night. And quit dressing up.

I don't see what the big deal is with the wrist bands. Heck, if they want to wear em then let them wear em. It's not gonna bother anyone if they do. I've never seen anyone get brought down by their wrist bands. However I have seen people get their headbands brought down in their faces trying to shoot the ball. That I can understand

In the TSSAA rule book.

Rule 1-5-2

Art.2.b...Tape, bandage or support wrap not to exceed three inch thicknesses, and sweatbands, when worn on the wrist beginning at the base of the thumb and extending no more than 3 inches toward the elbow, are legal without inspection or approval.

Looks plain to me what it says.

Looks like the TSSAA is turning into the NFL (No Fun League), there is nothing wrong with wristbands on the forearm and elbow. It is just a governing body over using their power and taking some out of it for the kids. I use to wear mine on my forarm because it would catch the sweat further away from my hand and plus i just always have done it since little leauge. I am glad this rule went in affect when I was in school.

Well said, I couldn't agree more. If you want attention earn it on the field.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
