Actually Briarcrest and Catholic are in D2 AA and three teams are moving from that Div. Ensworth is coming to D2 AA but I am not sure they are playing Varsity Football the next 2 years. No one is leaving D2 AAA only Briarcrest is coming and that is what Thisisajoke is talking about....

Knox Catholic has no business being in the super seven or being ranked higher than Mccallie. Did you know that Mccallie and Knox Catholic had an agreement to play each other in 2002, 2003, and 2004. but after Mccallie beat them so bad in 2002, Knox Catholic dropped Mcallie form their schedule. So, if Knox Catholic had not dropped Mccallie we could have seen these two teams play.

all of this trash talking gets us nowhere...we'll just see how well briarcrest does when they're playing those teams year in and year out. if you ask me i'd say they are a good addition to the DII-AAA. however only being able to play 3 out of conference opponents will mean teams will be forced to schedule all of those games against tough teams. time will tell.

pride214, settle down. People like you are not helping Briacrest's cause. Posts like yours do not gain you or Briarcrest any respect, its actually the contrary. If you want respect from the Super 7, you're going to have to earn it. The reality is that most people outside of Memphis have either not heard of Briarcrest or are very unfamiliar with them. As for the jump to AAA...it is going to be very difficult for Briacrest to be competitive in the Super 7.

Should we call it the Super 7+1?

You people are crazy... I have heard for years people in the "Super 7" talk smack about their "Elite" division.  Briarcrest has beaten MUS 2 out of the last 3 years and beat CBHS this year.  It does not matter that Briarcrest does not have 100 years of experience like the other schools...but who cares.  In the last 4 years, Briarcrest could have beaten MUS (they did), CBHS (they did), Father Ryan (terrible), Baylor.  Sounds like to me they need to get rid of Father Ryan because they cross the state lines to West Tennessee and give the powerhouse St. Benedict a football game.  For all the arrogant people of the Super 7, stop your snobby attitude that you are better than everybidy else.  It gets old...

Christian Brothers has only been to one DII-AAA championship game (a merciless drubbing at the hands of MBA), and MUS has never been. Baylor and Father Ryan aren't exactly packed with prowess this year, but each has had a strong team in the past and both have beaten one of the Memphis schools -- Baylor over MUS and Ryan over CBHS.

The fact remains that team for team, there is no stronger classification in Tennessee. Two of the teams with the most state titles in TSSAA history -- BA and MBA -- have played 4 times in the Clinic Bowl. Brentwood Academy has not lost to an in-state public school since joining the Super Seven, while MBA only lost once -- in overtime to a fabulous Dobyns-Bennett squad in 2001. Both teams have also held national rankings during that time span and have produced as many D1 prospects as just about anybody in the state, perhaps with the exception of Melrose, whom Christian Brothers beat this year.

Each of the previous two 5A state champions have lost by double digits to two Super Seven teams who didn't even win state -- Brentwood Academy over Brentwood 17-7 in 2002 and CBHS over Germantown 21-10 last year. Those victories were part of a two-game winning streak in each series.

It's silly to be arrogant about a football league -- there's no place for excessive pride in football. But judging from past and current results, the Super Seven -- perhaps the Elite Eight next year -- is the finest league in Tennessee high school football.
