Titans Coach of the Year

It has to be Buck Coatney. No one gave Fulton a chance for a playoff run after two early season losses and the thought of making it back to the Championship Game was a wild dream. Well not only did they revenge their earlier two losses on their way back to the Championship Game...they won their second state title in a row in style.

 

Coach Coatney (and the whole Fulton coaching staff) did a remarkable job turning a very young and inexperienced team into a State Champion team.

I'd have to give it to Coach Williams from Greenbrier. His team has gone one step further for each of the last 4 years and made it to the finals for the first time in school history. They've also set numerous school records.

Haters go ahead and do your thing, but Rankin is a great coach with a true understanding. Not to mention he's led a few teams to some great accomplishments, wouldnt you say? Give it to em.

When it comes to who means the most to a team and his community(which are the criteria for the award) no one can beat Kevin Ward from Camden...He brought the Lions their first home playoff, then their first 2nd round victory in school history...He rallied a whole county around this team and took an "average" talent team (or so a lot have said ) and turned them into winners and year in /year out contenders for the first time ever. Camden will never be seen as the "cellar dwellers" as they have been known because of he and his staff's leadership. Did I mention he accomplished all this in less than 2 seasons?

What about coach Tim Johnson from Franklin he led a team everyone thought would go 5-5 to a team 13-2 wasn't his year amazing and he didn't loose to clarcksville in the playoffs.

I origianally said Gary Rankin should get it. But if he doesn't, I think Maryville's coach should get it.

My vote would go to Coach Williams of Greenbrier. A class act in more ways than be mentioned on this forum.

Out of those 10, it has got to be Buck Coatney. His team got off to a sluggish start. Obviously due to the incredible amount of underclassmen on the team. He then leads them to a 3-A title where they dominated a pretty good Greenbrier team.

talk about turning around a season...memphis ridgeway began the year 0-4 before winning 7 straight. they lost in the quarterfinals to melrose and ended the season at 7-5.

I vote for Greenbrier Bobcat Coach Williams. He is a great Coach, and is able to teach all the other important aspects of being a success in sports and in life.

All the team has the utmost respect for him.
