Evidently LaVergne is using the old Walter Hill defense.  You know being the home team they know where NOT to run and where the holes are.

For those here who do not know what I am talking about with the WH defense, Walter Hill at one time WAS a high school and used an old barn for a gym.  In it there were dead spots on the floor that when you dribbled on them the ball literally stayed on the floor as you ran down court.  They knew them WELL and used them in games.  When you played them you literally had to have a scouting report on the floor as well!

I think that is a pretty good advantage to the home team.

The old Rockvale High played in a barn too.

Playing in barns wasn't so bad. The rooms for changing clothes got cold though and the old wood heaters near the baskets made for some dangerous and exciting endings as well. WH used that also when they were playing. For some reason 'they' never had to drive that direction in the second half!

How do you know barns weren't that bad. Are you old enough so that's what you played in?

Yes I am. WH was still playing in the barn in 1970. The 'old' high schools in Rutherford County were still being used until Oakland and Riverdale opened.

Now you know why I call myself 'TIRED' old Dad. Basically I am older than dirt. :D

Were you in high school back in '70. If so, you're not really that old in today's standards.

Graduated from Smyrna in May 1970 at 17. Arrived in Nam 1 Nov 1970. Turned 18 later that month. 5 wars later, I am TIRED. Getting shot a few times does that to you. :D

Anyway, back to the subject. I am looking forward to what they worked out for Siegal after all the lawsuits over it. I just hope they fix it so it doesn't turn into a swamp every time it rains.

I really would like to thank you for serving in those wars. It takes alot of guts to go over there.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
