Class AAA - REGION 3

This is probably the toughest region around, these teams are powerful, fast, and know how to play the game.

As for the sleeper(dark horse) Ooltewah will have that title. Ooltewah has Brainerd and Cleveland's number. Ooltewah has played both of these teams close and should have won at least one with each team.

As for the Regional Tourney, it will look like this:

#1 Bradley vs. #4 Soddy Daisy

#2 Brainerd vs. #3 Cumberland County

#2 Cleveland vs. #3 Red Bank

#1 Ooltewah vs. #4 McMinn County

Second Round:

#1 Bradley vs. #2 Brainerd

#1 Ooltewah vs. #2 Cleveland

Regional Championship:

#1 Ooltewah vs. #2 Brainerd

Just a look, but I think it will prove to be pretty close to this.

Don't hold your breath waiting for the Bradley basketball or wrestling programs to decline.

The 5 time defending wrestling state champions (or is it 4?) return 9 wrestlers who went to the state with 7 of those medalists. And there's more great wrestlers on the way.

As for the boys, as long as Kent Smith and Jason Reuter are manning the helm for basketball, it could also be a while before things change. After losing 8 seniors last year the Bears have actually IMPROVED their regular season record from 24-3 to 24-2. And with Coach Reuter's JV team sweeping through another unbeaten season it's gonna be tough to crack the Bear stranglehold on District 5-AAA and Region 3-AAA.

With 6 consecutive district regular season championships, 3 consecutive district tournament championships, 5 consecutive region championships, 3 consecutive sub-state wins and 4 out of 5 times going to Murfreesboro, that's a pretty tough act to follow. The bar is set high at Bradley Central.

Oh, by the way, did I mention that they are 124-12 in the last 4 plus years?

The reason Bradley Co. basketball has been at the height that it has been and the reason it will stay there (at least in the near future) is not due that largely to Kent Smith. Its called "having great players". Lots, and I mean lots, of coaches would be just as successful (quite possibly even more) in the past 8 years at BCHS. In the last 5 years, White Station is the only high school in the state with more talent in their basketball program.

That is IMPRESSIVE.

We know for sure that Bradley will be a 1 or 2 seed going into the Region from District 5.

Ooltewah and Brainerd will be one and two seeds coming in from District 6. We will know whose where after Thursday night.

Well does the Cumberland and Cleveland game really put a twist on things. Now the Ooltewah and Brainerd game becomes even more important. This really puts even more pressure on Ooltewah and Brainerd. Assuming Bradley can hold off Cumberland and Cleveland can beat McMinn then it would put the winner of the Ooltewah-Brainerd game in the bracket with McMinn, Cumberland, and the winner of Soddy and Red Bank. Where as the loser would have to be on the same side of the bracket as Cleveland and Bradley. And its not that a team wants to be on the same side of the bracket as Cumberland, but they just don't want to be on the same side as Cleveland and Bradley. That makes a huge difference come Region Tournament time.
