Elizabethton vs Pigeon Forge

The cyclones and tigers both won defensive games tonight to set up a clash of the undefeated tommorrow night in Erwin. Both teams went through their regular season and district tournaments without a loss and have earned their trips to the sub-state. Which one will play at home? Gooooooooo Lady Cyclones!!!!

How did the Elizabethton/Unicoi game play out...we had to leave at half time. Both teams looked real good on defense in the first half.

Looks like a repeat of the regular season game in Unicoi; 42 - 35 identical scores.

 

Congratulations to the Lady Cyclones. It was a Great Effort by the Lady Devils to get through South Greene to make this showdown possible.

 

So, now all that has to be decided is Who plays Where in Substate.

 

These Lady Cyclones continue to appear headed toward a ....

 

...."Rendezvous with Destiny."

Much the same as the first half. Basicly a 9 point game all of the third and 1/2 of the fourth. Unicoi cut the lead to 5 mid 4th. Eliz regained composure and pushed back to seven for the final. Good defensive game by both teams. goooo orange and black may the best one win!!!!

Great win Lady Cyclones! I was worried about this one, but I have known since you were in 7th grade and started beating Unicoi that one day you would supplant them. This season you have done so emphatically and I think you will stay on top of District 1 for seasons to come. I am extremely proud of you and wish you well against Pigeon Forge. I know you can win the Region again if you play your best, and I hope you do. Win or lose, I'll see you at your sub-state game. Go Cyclones!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was great to see you play again! You have certainly improved since the game I saw back in January Of course, teams with players who work as hard as you do and are well coached will do that. You are a very talented group - but you have also worked hard to get where you are. Congrats! Beat those Tigers! I'd love to come see another game Saturday night!!

Pigeon Forge is a veteran team with a grudge to settle from last years regional. The two teams match up well with Ramsey and Dodgen for PF on the inside vs Baughman and Pietrowski for the cyclones; and newman and garrison at guard for the Tigers and Crapps and Redd for the clones; that leaves Rayfield vs Hopson at the "swing" spot; No real advantage except for Baughman, and I think she carries the mail in this one............GOOOOOOOOOOO Lady Cyclones. thumb

I think this is a matchup between what I feel is the best two teams in East Tennessee. I don't know enough about them to make a guess, but it's good when the best two teams can avoid an upset and play for the title.

I agree. We seem to be hitting on all cylinders at the right time. Everybody is contributing in each of their own way. Very good win last night. Hard to beat a team 3 times, especially Unicoi(and 2 times in their own back yard), in one year. Third straight year in Region Finals. Would be nice to repeat as champs. Remember, we are the defending Champions of Region 1.
