CCHS, is going to impress alot of people out there tonight! Or should I say shock! Riddle wont see the ball inside the paint on man to man D! If she does she will have to earn it by seeing if she can make a post move! The lob wont be there for Oakland tonight! Hope they have another plan! Cumberland should be more worried about #30 in the paint more than Riddle! Hood has played against girls that could play circles around Riddle all year! The only thing shes got is intimidation to the other team! Other than that it should be a good game! Im excited-nervous-and most of all ready to go to state! You are crazy man! stop riddle? haha! you guys dont have a girl over 6 feet! how in the world are you going to stop a girls that has almost half a foot on your whole team. Riddle isnt the best center around, but i doubt CCHS has played many teams with centers better than riddle. Go ahead and focus on asberry, just means somebody else from oakland will hang CCHS for 20 points or so. Oakland will win tonight, GO PATS!

Alamader got hurt?

Huge mental lift for the Lady Patriots as the were able to win without almader. Made our free throws down the stretch, which in essence won the game.

 

However, for the 2nd game in a row, we made poor decision on offense by turning it over way too many times, THIS HAS TO BE CORRECTED BEFORE THURSDAY! As for almader, she will be fine, all she did was twist her ankle and she was ready to go with about 30 seconds to go, but at that point, Oakland had the game in control so there wasnt much of a need to put her back in. Got to give credit for CCHS, they have a good defense, but Oakland should have NEVER had to make a comeback late to win this one. A great win, but a disappointing one in the same breath

Congrats to Oakland. I have always thought that Coach Grindstaff is one of the best coaches in Middle Tenn. Good luck in the state tournament.

Not necessarily a lack of desire.  Maybe some poor decisions and lack of communicaton.  The offense was not the only thing weak tonight.  OHS looked TIRED on defense late on the game.  Allowed way to many of those SMALLER girls to have easy baskets.  Girls were not in their flow tonight.  They basically won on ability.  Get your rest girls!  We all know you are coming back stronger than ever.  Congrats!

thanks for the compliment msk, it is greatly appreciated. As for why oakland was tired, i think it stems from a lack of trust that grandstaff has in her bench. when you only play 7 players the whole game, you are bound to get tired. Cumberland Co's style of play tends to get you a little tired since they do play up tempo all game.

 

next up is wilson central, an even smaller team( tallest player is 5'10) but they are playing their best ball at the right time. Oakland must limit turnovers to be able to have a shot in this one. Want to give huge praises to sarah riddle tonight, 13 points and 17 rebounds! thats got to be close to a school record

Foster had Almader's hands tied the whole night. By the fourth quarter, she needed to rest. I was not impressed with her defensively or offensively. I was impressed with the Asberry girl though.

 

The game was filled with way too many turnovers for both teams; however, the help from the referees in the first half for Oakland made a huge difference in the game.
