When Rhea County beat OR in the playoffs they had a big guy that had 2 TD catches in that game. The guy bobbled both catches 3 or 4 times and almost dropped both of them but because he had all the time in the world and was wide open he was able to hold on and score. If he had any guys on him there was no way he would have made either of those catches and it would have been a different game.

That's what the Wing-T can do for a team that runs it well. The D starts sitting on the run and the secondary by human nature slowly but surely starts creeping up towards the line of scrimmage and boom you're hit with a long pass, or in that case a wide open guy in the EZ. Tough to stop if ran effectively.

exactly, the wing-t is all about execution. Rhea ran the wing-t almost to perfection.

Don't pick us again this year, Vul. Thanks brah.

Sorry Double S, but I think the top 3 to represent the East have to be the OR, Ooltewah, and Rhea County. The verdict is still out on Sevier County. I think they have the best QB in East TN but they will have to drastically improve defensively to have a shot. I'm sure there will be a sleeper or two that come out of nowhere.

Henry County should be good again. We lost a few to graduation but should just reload again. One of those replacements is at QB. That is also interesting.

Region 7 will be interesting to follow over the next few years with HC, Centennial, and Brentwood all in the fold. I could see any of those 3 programs producing a 5A championship caliber team during an up year, especially now that Crawford is back at Brentwood. Should be fun to watch.

As for Henry County in 2015, I am cautiously optimistic. We are losing a lot, but from the sounds of it we have another strong and deep senior class coming up, including a handful of very good returning starters. Not to mention some very talented underclassmmen. And to your point on the QB situation, this will be the 5th consecutive season we've had a new starter at QB. The continued success at that position in spite of the yearly turnover really speaks volumes about the coaching staff.

It should be an entertaining year in the "new" 5A.

I'll be honest, seeing you guys earlier in the year this past one... I really thought you guys along with OR would have been the difference makers in 5A from the East. However, the coaching that went on defensively against Rhea County was atrocious. You talk about how the offense couldn't do anything in the cold but defensively it may have been one of the worst game plans ever!!!!! I like your passion for the OWLS but last year they underachieved and were not coached very well defensively! OR had absolutely zero offense last year and Rhea County abused them as well from an offensive stand point. I think both of you guys could be pretty good again this coming season but time will tell!

PLAYING THE LIKES OF DOLLYWOOD, PIGEON FORGE AND GATLINBURG DON'T MAKE YOU A POWERHOUSE NO MATTER HOW MANY TROPHIES YOU POSSESS BUDDY.....PUTTING UP 60-70 PTS ON A TEAM SAYS NOTHING ABOUT YOUR TEAM....BUT HOW WEAK AS WATER THE TEAMS YOU PLAY ARE...DIDN'T SEE THAT PERFORMANCE IN COOKEVILLE.....#LOP

While I don't think they'll be contenders I think Heritage will fair better in 5A. I wouldn't be surprised if they win enough games to squeak into the 5A playoffs.

91 I think we actually agree. Heritage only needs to win two district games to make the playoffs, and they play in an easier district this year.

I agree with you sweet. I wish we ran the wing-t

SC actually returns more Defensive starters than offensive so that side of the ball could be pretty good. Depth will be the issue at SC. Thats the main reason I dont think they are a clear favorite. If the best 11 are on the field at the end of the year SC will be very tough. Of course every team needs to stay healthy but it will be critical for the Bears as there is a big drop off at some positions from 1st to 2nd string. Your top 3 are hard to argue with I just hope the Bears can make it interesting come playoff time.

GoBears!!
