OAK RIDGE vs WEBB

Call me stupid but I don't think the OR problems are as bad as you all want me to believe.I'm sure we have our share of problems but no more than other top schools. Some people are being too critical because we lost two games and have our hands full tomorrow night. We can still catch fire like Sevier County did last year. That is my mind set. I'm a the glass is half full kind of person.

Remember, chicken little said the sky was falling and guess what? The sky didn't fall.

This post wasn't aimed at anyone.

WTW it isn't just this year. I don't think things are terrible, I mean we are sitting at 7-2, but this is OR man. We don't settle for 10 win seasons here, or maybe we do now?

Oak Ridge teams used to be LOADED with talent back in the 80' and 90's. Not to mention rosters of 100+ kids year after year. I don't see that today, except with the exception of 2 or 3 players. That's just my opinion though. I may be wrong.

You are right. We definitely don't have the talent we used to have, but we have enough talent to still be competing for state titles, especially in 5A. The East is weak right now, and we aren't taking advantage of that when we should be. We have more talent than any team around here in the East at least. IMO. With that said, the year isn't over yet. Maybe we will catch fire, but I haven't seen anything too promising thus far to believe we will. Just too many holes I've seen. Not many teams around here, even Maryville or Alcoa could say they had/have the talent we used to have. And just to think we got 1 state title out of it.

SS-I do hope that we can catch fire...just not much optimism.  We certainly should have won more than 1 state championship in the late 80's and 90's.

We have a lot of talent right now and in the next few years, just hope that we get a team like the '91 team that wins it despite these problems.

I'm not sure if he does lol Maybe he doesn't. What makes you say that? Who does like playing in it, though? ha ha

I've talked with a couple of former Wildcats that I work with and they have mentioned he seems to get injured when it starts getting cold like last year and then a week later he was playing basketball. Haha

Same here, ORTX. Unless our line play changes drastically on both sides, and we figure something out in the secondary I'm afraid our boys will be putting the pads up early this year. If we happen to catch fire I was reading an Indy thread earlier and I didn't feel too good when I read their whole WR corps has college offers already. With how our secondary has looked that doesn't bode well if we do make it that far, and I expect them to be there in the end (Indy)

Tee limps off the field every game in hot weather and cold weather. I think it's a tradition just to keep us fans on the edge of our seat and interested.  :P  I'm being dead serious, too. He does it just about every game. He's a tough kid, though.

    • Understand the young thing.  I was one of those.  Barely 17 when I graduated from high school and started college.  But redshirting for athletic purposes isn't doing them any favors, in my opinion.  Life isn't always going to be fair.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
