  2. Cleveland brought their girls team as well and they took first place today (Thursday) at the Knockout Christmas Tournament. Winning on they end at the Knockout Christmas tournament.

  3. You may have been making a joke at me but it was still funny. Maybe Ryan High school could use 8th graders since they have no 8th graders.

  4. Not sayings it’s true but that’s the reputation they have. Gibson County may be ranked #1 but I would place McMinn, York and Gatlinburg Pitt 1, 2, 3 right now with Gibson County behind them. AA in the state of Tennessee is the strongest class in the state in my opinion. It is loaded

  5. I’ve watched TN football a long time. I think your more accurate when mention 5/7 years ago. However, the population has changed. Not sure the last time a major D1 football player has come out of our region (east of Knoxville). I played against DB 20 years ago, those teams were far more talented than the teams today. If I remember correctly there were 3 D1 athletes on the team I played against that went to ACC schools. No team east of Knoxville could compete with Oakland, Knox West, CPA etc…..it’s not a bad thing. Great young men, that will be great leaders in the community etc…they’re just not D1 football players. The size is also a pretty irrelevant measure, look at Alcoa. You either have to be a large population center or have folks to move to play at your school to be elite. The exception can be the smaller city schools that pull from 10k student county systems, but only compete in 3A, 4A etc..

  6. Watched McCallie and Baylor in the state championship game it was like watching two college teams playing compared to what I was used to watching in the Knoxville area! Big, fast and strong.

  7. See you automatically referenced this post that somebody from Gibson County made that comment. #goPioneers!! Gibson County, Peabody and Westview will all be tough outs for any team. Lots of tough teams. McMinn Central, Gatlinburg Pittman, York, East Nashville, Loretto, Summertown, Westview, Peabody, Cheatham County. Lots of ball to be played.

  9. The team y'all played in the first game, Wise Central is a high quality program as well. Always a contender to win VHSL 2A state titles. Was runner up last year but that's because the current star player was severely limited with an ankle injury. Current star player will have set most of the VHSL records, including scoring, by the time she is done.

  10. I, however, did not miss the sarcasm and I am deeply appreciative of the sarcasm. Well played Choo, well played.

  11. I doubt it. I'd bet Summit beats both of them by no less than 20

  12. I bet Mathews would have taken a job at Sunbright to get away from Shad.

  13. You only heard half the story CY. That same player who spit was punched in the groin and his hands stepped on with Yellowjacket cleats purposely. Also during that game, 2 Eagle players had their eyes gouged while in a pile. You see CY things go both ways on the field, some get caught and some don’t. I’m not saying any of it was right, but you must tell the whole story. Your boys are not innocent and neither are the other boys but both sides must be told.

  14. Of all the hires Catholic could have made....This one is shocking. I guess they still couldn't hire Matthews, which is why he left. Seems there were many better candidates out there, but they settled. I think this hire says a lot about the admin's dedication to football. I guess they realize they play in D2-AAA and will never have a chance to win a championship.

  16. Both the Greenback and Oakdale parent should be banned permanently and be required to pay all fines. I would hate for my child’s senior season to be remembered as the season one parent lost their cool and ruined it for everyone.

  17. Maybe they could’ve used a few of those 8th graders, am I right? …sorry. I couldn’t help it.

  18. I will be the first to admit, I had them going 1-9 last season especially how that Mo East game went down in 2022. I realize they had a very soft schedule but actually that was a good thing because those kids would never buy in if they were thrown in the cage with the likes of a Bearden and Bradley and a couple more teams. This is one of those situations where enrollment should be thrown out the window because it's harder fielding a football team when some of your kids live far out as Tallahassee and Six Mile. You almost have to throw those numbers away and use common sense which the TSSAA has none at all.
