  1. Well the school was closed down and part of it was because they got caught cheating by the TSSAA so they had to forfeit all of their football championships. I don’t know what they did about basketball, but they should’ve had to forfeit them as well because it was the same group of kids, same group of parents that we’re doing it. I don’t blame the kids at all. I blame the parents and the administration because they knew exactly what they were doing. This school is built in that same mold. They are doing the exact same things that Temple was doing. They are recruiting from all over Chattanooga, Hamilton county even Georgia and anywhere else they can get kids in and then they are playing against division 1 schools. it’s not gonna happen this year probably not next year, but eventually it will come out, and the same thing will happen to this school. It’s an unfair advantage, and that is why they have separate classifications. One for privates and one for public schools. This school is pretending to be a public school but they are operating as a private school when it comes to sports. This coaching carousel they have with the brothers switching places, the personal trainer thing going on, is shady. If it walks like a duck …

  2. Same thing. Basically a team put together and in their third year of existence but first in high school they make substate. And then 2 straight state tournaments. Just out of nowhere here they are.

  3. Yep. 4 classes has unfortunately watered down the quality of competition at the state tournament level. Only one game today was decided by single digits. 4 team districts, and 8 team regions mean that 25% (region champion and runner up, 2/8) of teams are getting to play in sectionals. Compare that back to when there were 3 classes. 8-9 team districts, regions were between 15-18 teams. With 4 classes we are getting matchups of the top 25% but with 3 classes only around 10% of teams made sectionals.

  4. Melton and Arline in the backfield is a good one two punch. Melton can go in the slot and blow past people. Arlines time to shine. He has bulked up. I noticed that at the football banquet.

  5. You may be correct , my guess it’s someone with HC experience … Carr, Foster, Hodge … those 3 would be my first interviews but I only know of two currently .

  6. yeah, I may have went a little far with that LOL. Gotta try to get an edge somehow. I guess I was just going off of what he did in middle school. He was the best of the three at that age, Rushing and passing yards. I know you can’t use that, but it’s fun to be positive for their team, right? He was just a freshman this past season. I would have liked to have seen him play QB a little more this past season He had a broke wrist or something l part of the season and then the other part where he did get to come in at QB we were up by 50 so no pass plays were called. But he can run. Melton will be special too. People don’t realize how fast he is. The Arline kid has been hitting the weights hard. This season will be his breakout season which will only be his junior season. This is fun talking some football and having opinions. Don’t mean to come across as argumentative, just my opinion and having some fun.

  7. They have trained together a little in the past, but Brayden was typically heavier than Cooper. They’ve been on several national teams together. It would have been nice to see them on opposite sides of the bracket for the chance at this match later in the tournament. This will actually be Brayden’s 3rd time at nationals. It would be awesome to see him and Cooper (and Chittum) all end the year on the podium.

  8. Cookeville looked good yesterday. Everyone keeps saying they have no big but they keep beating really good teams with multiple 6’7 and 6’8 players. Defense travels and shooters will keep you in many games you aren’t supposed to be in. You are already there boys so why not just win this whole thing! Bartlett looked good yesterday but definitely beatable. If we shoot well we have a shot at beating anyone. Indy did look really good on the other side.

  10. Agreed, but I’m not putting it past Austin East to give them a fight. Didn’t they compete with Fulton earlier in the year? I think top half of the bracket is loaded. Only team that’s a top contender, IMO, that isn’t up there is Alcoa.

  11. First off congratulations to coach Mangrum and Hume fogg. The big kid for Hume fogg is legit. I agree the creek has some size and are very good defensively

  12. New Coach...running the old coach's system? Sometimes people have an "Easier" system to learn. Not a chance some new dude runs your old dudes stuff. 5 months to learn a new system is far from a "short" time.

  14. I'd like to see what Noah from Gleason would do with the continual talent that McKenzie always has. But I also don't see him ever leaving Gleason. Good luck with the search.

  15. He sure as heck didn’t mind taking Jacob Warren from TKA back in the day… or Gavin Wilkinson or Jack Alley or Eli Purcell from Hardin Valley… or the Gibbs duo from Carter…
