  1. Mark Packer and Austin Price and the others on Packervision put the hex on OR picking Jefferson County over OR because their lines were better.
  2. Packer gave the Dragons his blessing last night picking them to start off the Year of the Dragon with a win over Cleveland
  3. I remember the great Gallatin teams of the 70s, 80s and 90s under Calvin Short, I would like to see them back up there, Surely they can take the Commandos...
  4. jeff County traditionally is big up front and likes to control the ball and play defense, hoping to cash in on a turnover. The key to this game may be how well their defense can cover Oak Ridge's receivers. If they can't it will be a long night for the Patriots. For Oak Ridge, avoiding turnovers and better tackling in the secondary is a key. I understand the Patriots fared pretty well in a scrimmage against West, so the Wildcats cannot take them lightly, I think OR wins this one 21-7.
  5. West lost a lot of players off a really good team last season, I have to go with Bearden in this one, but not by a lot. 21-10
  6. A tough game to pick, both teams lost some key players from last season. AC picked up a QB and receiver in the transfer portal, both are supposed to be pretty good and I heard their lines looked good against DB in a scrimmage. Powell lost a really good quarterback and receiver and its going to be interested who they picked up to replace them. Powells lines are virtually intact from last season, and that's a big plus for them. Much as I would like AC to win, I will go with Pal in a close one at home. 28-21.
  7. DB sounded like they were pretty good up front in the scrimmage against Anderson County. Don't know much about Farragut yet except they are starting a new quarterback. I have to take the Indians in this one 21-17.
  8. I thought the offense continues to look good, at this point it is ahead of the defense. Pass coverage and secondary tackling need to get better. We have a new kicker but his extra points were the difference, punting definately needs work. Good quality opponent in Greeneville, which may be a tick down from the two previous teams, but have a good core of players and I am sure they will be there at playoff time.
  9. I am willing to bet that the rumors of Maryville's demise are a little exaggerated. Sounds like they did OK with Ensworth, which is usually a pretty solid contender in the private class. All their losses last year were to really good teams, including two that won their class state championship. They may not be as deep as they have been, but the guys they put on the field will be pretty good and well coached. Looking forward to watching the Oak Ridge scrimmage on Friday, will be a chance for both teams to get some good work in....
  10. Cleveland is always quick, I remember Benny {Monroe) and his jets. Bradley is pretty good I hear, I wonder if they got some of the guys Cleveland normally gets. I think if Clinton does beat them, it will be a big win and a signal that the Year of the Dragon is here....
  11. I did too, early missed tackles and busted coverages cost them, got to wrap up better on defense. Offense did some really nice stuff, main thing is keeping everybody healthy, especially the lines, to be a really good season, the lines need to be consistent. Coach Rang does a good job of working with the quarterbacks, I saw better play there. than at anytime last year. Fulton had some quick backs and receivers and big lines, but they are real thin off the bench, only 27 players total dressed for the scrimmage, I hope they got more coming.
  12. Yes, he is. I like him and I have enjoyed talking with him. I think he is going to do an excellent job at Oak Ridge.
  13. I heard Bradley was very good from an AC friend.
  14. I would like to know too, Is it the Year of the Dragon? How did Hardin Valley look? 2nd year for Coach Miner over there and a long rebuild in store I hear.
  15. I understand West lost a bunch of good players and needs a quarterback. Jeff lost a QB and WR to AC, I was wondering how the Patriots looked as well.
  16. I would be interested to hear as well, since we play Knox Central this year.
  17. I understand the TSSAA does not check addresses any more as far as living in the school zone of the school they are playing for. Is this true?? I hope that the transfer craze doesn't reach the volume and craziness of the NCAA Transfer Portal, which is way out of whack.
  18. From what I saw at the Halls scrimmage, this team could be very good. If they can fill a few holes left by graduation and bring along some guys in new positions. I like the scheme and the organization I saw at Halls. Looking forward to the season,
  19. Its the Dead Period here on CoachT too, lots of old stuff still hanging on the front page.
  20. I thought they were better and got better as the season went on. Definitely the play was better and they looked to be a playoff contender this season. Too bad.
  21. I’m hearing it’s the Year of the Dragon!!
  22. I understand Taylor is going to try a jump to college football, so if he got an offer somewhere, he should take it, because its so hard to make that jump. I thought he did a good job at Karns, he made them competitive and you could see the interest in the program pick up even at the JV and Freshman levels.
  23. Grass is great, but resources need to be dedicated year round to properly maintain it, seeding, plugging, watering, cutting and between game’s maintenance to keep it right. Otherwise turf is better, after the up front expense to install the field and the 10 year surface replacement depending on wear. I once asked a coach which he preferred and he said, “with the weather you have here, especially in November, turf, absolutely” so I wish Heritage and William Blount the best on getting turf.
  24. Mavs beware!! Its a Year of the Dragon, like 2009
