  1. Y'all are in good hands. There are good coaches out there who can improve teams through questionable methods, but that's not what you have. Stroup will improve every aspect of the program... he will have every kid enrolled at Gallatin who can contribute participating. He will inspire every kid on the team to give everything he has by accepting responsibility for failures and crediting the players for success. He will put kids in position to succeed through assignments and play calling, and not least by far he will make better people of his players on and off the field. All of the Green Wave fans should already be excited for next season.
  2. Once you realize that's all you get from him, it's pretty easy to use the coachT equivalent of a bug zapper...the ignore feature is effective pest control.
  3. Region 5 has nothing to hang their heads about, tonight's results just validated what most were saying in August... the top 3/4 teams in R/6 were capable of winning a championship barring injuries and surviving their own region to advance. Peabody (last team in) and Adamsville (first team out) could probably have competed for regional titles in most areas in 2A. Eventually this region will be whittled down by one another if nobody outside can knock them off, but whomever makes it to the 'ship will definitely have some battle scars and steady nerves. Iron sharpens iron, and there's still some grinding left to do to see who's left standing.
  4. That one may get cranked up soon, but isn't one of the ones that I've heard floating around (no more than usual) yet. One of the "rumors" is almost a lock...came from a very credible source with a strong connection to the team.
  5. I would have... you can't use 'em on the bus ride home.
  6. I thought it'd never go away when it was fresh...you got the memory of an elephant!!!
  7. Naw, not sad at all. I put 'em both in at the same time earlier this morning along with "all" the ER-89 alias's. Used to feel like I owed it to them to hear their perspective, even knowing that they were trolling. It occurred to me this morning that I only needed to honor their opinion if it was genuine, and it's not..."""poof""" my life got much simpler in about two minutes (there may only be two of them, but they got a lot of accounts).
  8. Sorry...I should have had the couth to wait for his reply.
  9. Why not? There seems to be plenty of room in there.
  10. I've seen your kids in this situation before General...went to Waverly with everyone expecting them to get bulldozed and gave the Tigers all they wanted. I will be surprised if they don't do the same with the Owls.
  11. Not my place to spread rumors and gossip. Lot's of he said, she said junk at any point of the year if you listen to all of it, but two or three around my area right now that have some credibility. Season will be over soon (if not already), and they'll get put out there...just be patient.
  12. Duck wasn't a little guy, but next to Butchie he looked like it. The duo thing really wasn't an act for the 'T either, they were thick as thieves and spent a lot of time around each other. The Lenny reference bothered me for Butchie because he's a long way from the dumb character in the movie, but the way him and Duck played off each other as the wisecracker and the straight man was as good as Martin/Lewis, Abbott/Costello, ect... The only time they broke character where you could see through their BS was around family. Duck was around 6' with a gray scruffy beard and ponytail... I swear Butchie was close to 7', with a barrel chest, arms like my legs, and fists looked as big as two country hams. Before we knew that Duck would be too weak to go, he wanted to hunt with us at least once that winter. Planning the trip, Duck wised off something about how sick he'd be by then, and Butchie said (just a little too loud) that he'd carry him out there if he needed to. When Duck was hugging on his grandson after the game was over, Butchie came over, looked me in the eye with tears in his and told me again. I didn't doubt that he would. Got nothing to do with Marion/Cascade, but man I miss 'em.
  13. Not choir boys, but really good dudes...reminded me of George and Lenny (bet you get it), without disparaging anyone's intelligence.
  14. If you wanted a book (movie) deal you should have moved to McKenzie and followed that 'ol ice cream truck around. Adventures of Butchie and Duck...probably would have been bigger than them National Lampoon movies with Chevy Chase in 'em if you could have quit laughing long enough to write 'em down. If you think them watered down retellings that made it on these message boards were good...
  15. I think most small towns have one of those.
  16. Torches and pitchforks for some, and open checkbooks for others. There are already two or three rumors out there...they'll be public domain before too long.
  17. They weren't sitting at what you SP folks used to call the liars table... or, were they?
  18. Made a decision between Riverside/Milan and your game...I got that one right!!! I haven't spoken with Hollingsworth, but I can guarantee you that those kids will either quit, or feel his wrath until their head and bones ache. I understand the bitterness of losing after playing that hard and feeling that you had done enough to win, but that ending was a clown show that should embarrass them long after regretting the loss would fade away. Had I known for sure which game I was showing up to, I'd have contacted you...as it was I was walking across the lot as HC scored to tie it at 7. Thinking I'm going to see my 'ol buddy Stroup next week, but If your Tigers take care of business we might just meet up in week 2.
  19. Very sad situation for Middleton. With the athletes available in the building, participation, community and school support, and decent coaching would turn out some fantastic football teams, yet they struggle to win 1-2 games a season. 100-0 may not be a stretch.
