  1. Playing high school sports is a privilege not a right. The college did not have to rescind the scholarship. Scholarship offers are pulled all the time for a number of reasons. That was 100% their choice. A coach can keep, cut, or dismiss any player that they want to without reason anytime they want. Is that the right way to run a program?? I don't think that it is, but these are the facts of the matter. This case has absolutely 0% chance of going in the plaintiff's favor. Futhermore, I'd imagine that these administrators and the coach are a part of some teaching or coaching organization that will cover at least 1 million dollars each in legal fees. Obviously the kid and her family feel like there were "damages" thus the lawsuit. Unfortunately, the law is not on their side in this case.
  2. I am not aware of any legal precedents in which the plaintiff in this case would win. If so, what are they? This player's family is going to spend the cost of college tuition x4 in legal fees if it ever even makes it to court IMO.
  3. Heyworth at FC will be the exact same disaster that it was at Grundy. Take that to the bank.
  4. I like the Georgia model better than the Tennessee dead period. GA rolls the dead period out the first week of June (the first week after school ends for most) and the 1st week of July.
  5. Coaches knew all season when the region tournaments began so it’s completely up to them when to hold their district tournaments being that the TSSAA has nothing to do with those. Gripe at your coach or district coaches, not the TSSAA. This is a much better format than the previous format. I’m a little partial to the old Final Four format where you had to win Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to make the Spring Fling. Seeing teams “celebrate” being the Region Runner up is a microcosm of the participation trophy generation that is here to stay IMO.
  6. If Central can beat Bradley, they’ll beat GC. That’s the best AA win in the state this season. Winning the first one was the biggest hurdle for the Baby Blue. They’ve got a Championship pedigree and a seasoned coach to lead em all the way to the gold ball. Go Blue!
  7. It is not difficult to implement. Georgia adopted it this season and it was a non-issue.
  8. Anyone who supports free market capitalism should fully embrace Name Image and Likeness. NIL is free market capitalism at its finest. Paying for apartments, paying bills, providing vehicles, and providing employment for parents has been going on for years and years across the state across many sports. The TSSAA just took this issue off of their plate. These issues have been and will continue to be nearly impossible to police.
  9. McMinn has the arm depth with four D-1 signees/commits on the bump. I’d really like their chances in this format if they weren't in the same bracket with Farragut. My money is on the Admirals
  10. It’s 100% on the coaches to convey to their teams what the consequences are for fighting/leaving the benches. The precedent has been set by the TSSAA, and we all know it includes a post season ban. If making the post season is important, this must be instilled into the players. No excuses
  11. They’ve beaten two schools so far whose combined enrollment is slightly more than half of Warren’s. Get fat on the cupcakes while you can.
  12. 1918... end of the deadliest war in human history (at the time) , and much deadlier pandemic... football was played. A lot of things change in 100 years, for better or worse
  13. Yeah PG came out of the woodwork and thought he was a TSSAA legal/bylaw expert before Fayetteville withdrew their appeal for cheating
  14. “Hey honey, I’m going to be called head coach and it’s going to cost us at least 12k a year” sounds like something that will fly like a lead balloon. That’s just foolish IMO
  15. Huge pay cut coming from RuCo to FC. Not sure why a young man, especially one starting a family would want to do that. Hope FC ends up with a great coach!
  16. Great class!! Good enough to be the 7th best... in the conference
  17. Being “tired” in a 32 minute high school basketball game is ridiculous. I remember a lot about playing high school basketball but being tired in a game was not one of them. Go Blue!
  18. I think FC is in a tough spot being that the system doesn't pay very well. Any quality candidate can cross the border to Alabama or go up the road to Rutherford Co. and make a considerable amount more than teaching and coaching in FC. They've done some things in recent years to try and help that situation, but it's not enough to entice a quality coach from elsewhere.
  19. Population has nothing to do with the OOZ multiplier though. Alabama has smaller population than TN and has 7 classes across the board in the main sports (which is absurd IMO). TN would be best served to go 5 public school classes across the board in the main sports. Apply the OOZ multiplier like GA does. I also wish TSSAA would classify each sport individually. For example, more schools play basketball than baseball or softball. With all the small charters and such schools popping up this number is sure to continue growing. Take the number of schools that actually play the sport, then divide up your classifications accordingly.
  20. Tennessee should do what Georgia does regarding OOZ students. In GA every student that attends a school from out of zone is counted twice and that school is classed accordingly to the number after the multiplier. For example School A has 1,000 students. 200 of those students do not live in that school's zone. Thus School A's enrollment is 1,200 after the mulitplier... similar to the 1.8 TSSAA used a while back.
  21. He was an out going senior. However the O-D is no different than participating in the underclassmen portion of Army All American game in Texas was my understanding or other combine like events. Since it's not exclusive, as they'd lead you to believe, it's not considered an all star game but more like a camp with a game at the end. If i had an underclassmen that wanted to participate, I'd definitely get it okayed with the state office.... but we see how that can work out too.
