  1. This is going to be a fun game for sure, gotta take the Lions to pull this one out though by a TD!
  2. Obion County fought hard against a big Northside team last week. I think they will bring the fight in this one as well, but I like McKenzie to pull away in the end!
  3. This is not the same Crockett County team we are use to seeing, they may take some lumps this year. Haywood will have their way in this game.
  4. One thing is for sure, UC will put up a heck of a fight Friday night and try to control the clock, but it won't be enough to overcome those Bruins of USJ. USJ by 3 TDs.
  5. This should be a good game as it normally is, but a tough one to pick. Dresden did some good things against a good Westview squad last week that won't show on the scoreboard. Greenfield did not look that impressive at all against S. Fulton, so I'm sure they are hungry to prove their doubters wrong. At the end of the day, I'm going to take Greenfield by a TD. The streak continues!
  6. Glad to see this young man back on the field, he was a bad, bad man his freshman year. Prayers for an injury free senior season. As for this game, Dyer County wins this renewed rivalry match up by a TD!
  7. Peabody takes this game by 2 to 3 scores. I think that Peabody's defense is the difference in this one. They should be able to get consistent pressure on Simpson and the Peabody secondary is legit. Simpson won't be able to run around and make plays all night long, but he will definitely make his fair share. Westview is going to be a force this year, but they are playing The Force this week!
  8. Westview wins this game simply because they are the better team and have more horses in the stable. This game probably won't live up to some of the rivalry games of the past between these two, but Dresden will for sure show up ready to take their best shot at the Chargers. I'm like everyone else, interested to see how the O line and defense has improved. This is a scary team with those 2 things fixed.
  9. Why the change in teams? South Fulton playing in another jamboree? Either way, glad to see the Crockett County-Covington match up. Covington should actually be able to get some quality work against Crockett, no disrespect to South Fulton, but they had no business being on the field with Covington. Hopefully everyone has a good showing and can stay injury free!
  10. Might be time to fact check that source...7-0? I have a source that was there for the 7 on 7 that confirms it was a back and forth contest in which they agree Lake Co may have come out on top. But according to them, it was no more than 1 or 2 scores that separated the winner from the loser. No shutout took place, but some good work for both teams. Looking forward to seeing how that scrimmage between the two turns out later on this summer!
  11. I think it for sure hurts region 8 this upcoming season not playing the season before. Normally with most Memphis teams you see a lot of talented athletes that just need more coaching and developing. A year away from the game does not help those kids in a developmental stand point. It may have given them more time in the weight room, but the lack of in-game reps will be a major factor. As for the conversation on the west representative, on paper Ty Simpson and Westview look like the easy choice, but this side of the bracket is a toss up honestly. Huntingdon & Lewis Co. will for sure make a push. Teams like Riverside and Camden could also be in the mix and who knows what region 8 will look like. Should be a fun year, but I'd put my money on Westview at this point!
  12. First things first, the bottom two in this region will be Bolivar & Bolton in no particular order. Both of those teams have to show me that they can play with any of the other 4 teams in this region before I think otherwise. Covington is obviously the easy favorite, but they still have a lot to prove this year with a new region and missing some kids we've grown accustom to seeing on the field for them. I agree with everyone else when it comes to Dyersburg, young and show tons of potential, but Barbee is gone and that defense has to be fixed! Ripley has been on an upward trend over the past few years and could be a big player in this region. They have beat Dyersburg the last 2 years as well as Millington, so confidence should be running high for them during those match ups. A bunch of new kids on the field with not as much playing experience could cause problems. Millington is the true sleeper in this region. They are young and talented and they have to be hungry by now. Not much respect has been thrown their way over the past few years, but making noise in this region is one way to gain respect. I see it shaping up like this.... 1. Covington 2. Ripley 3. Millington 4. Dyersburg 5. Bolivar 6. Bolton
  13. I would agree, Covington would have to be the betting man's favorite at this point. Not clue of what they have coming back, I know they are losing a great back in Hayes.
  14. The Tigers' history against the Tomcats as of recent years has not been pretty at all. Haywood has DOMINATED this "rivalry" in every way since Ripley's last win in 2014. But let's be real, no one expected the Tigers to be where they are right now either. Been a crazy year so far, maybe it gets even crazier when the Cinderella story Tigers upset the Tomcats. I'll take Ripley 28-24!
  15. I like Ripley in the rematch. Their defense played great in the 1st meeting, but their offense never got off the bus. In their last few games that offense has figured out how to put up points, especially the 51 they put up on Dyersburg. Should be a good game, but I'll take Ripley by 2 scores!
  16. This game is interesting...does Haywood have any rust from the time off? Can they stop Dyersburg's O? Can Dyersburg stop Haywood's O? Haywood is the more experienced and more athletic team. I think they still have a lot to prove with the short amount of games they've played this year, but I think Dyersburg could win this game. Taking Haywood by 2 scores in a good game!
  17. Huntingdon is no doubt the team I expect to see make that Cookeville trip from the West side of the state. They are rolling right now and I don't see many that can slow them down. LC doesn't have the dudes they had last year that pushed Huntingdon around, different story this year!
  18. Covid??? Going to give Haywood 2 weeks off prior to their first playoff game, good thing?
  19. Greenfield finds a way to get it done, Greenfield by a TD!
  20. Halls can't play with UC, that's a fact. UC by a lot in this game!
  21. Limited practice for Crockett County and a Dyersburg offense that can put up points in a hurry, I'm taking Dyersburg by 2 TD's!
  22. Not going to be a close game, Obion Co has nothing to lose so I'm sure all of their trick plays will come out, but not going to matter...Haywood 49-0!
  23. I don't know too much about UC this year. I know they are under a new head coach this season, but they are playoff bound and winning games this year. Ripley is a big team upfront and have a lot of athletes and speed. When it's all said and done, I don't know if UC will be able to keep up. Ripley wins what should be a good game!
  24. Someone just put Connor Wood's highlight tape in front of me yesterday. That kid has a monster leg! Big weapon over there in Lexington!
  25. Milan is going to bring a little more physicality to this contest than Hardin Co. wants to deal with. Milan by 2 TDs!
