RTD yes the stadium st WC is old, as is the case at several metro schools. Gradually, metro has been updating the stadiums much like anywhere else. It was not long ago that H20 played at an old stadium. Be thankful for what you have. No need to knock others. As for the game, WC will have athleticism and speed. H20 defense I am sure will be up to the task just put them away early. Offensively H20 just has to hang onto the ball. H20 should dominate special teams.
-
H20 WC has zero posters that I am aware of. A couple metro guys might get on here but I wouldn't count on it. WC does appear to be somewhat better than the last several years based on scores. I would think if H20 could get up early it will be over. Let them hang around for too long and who knows.

The WaCo JaCo 6A Top 10 Poll (100% correct)
workinprogress replied to WaCoJaCo's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
And I believe Germantown just beat WH Willie. -
Is Oakland good? Without question. They have a good coaching staff from top down. They have facilities that match or are better than those around. They have a good school zone to pull kids from. They have tradition. And yes the transfers without question help. Many kids transfer into the middle school first. Its a combination of all of this that leads to success. I laugh at the argument that no one notices those that transfer out.
-
Yes that is correct. The old FR school was near the Vanderbilt campus.
-
Maybe I'm wrong but I thought all oakland and Riverdale games were played at middle until stadiums were built. I think Siegel even played some games there. I agree the more schools that are added the less posters for each team. Posters I remember most are my2cents, lostolddad, nrgrizzlies, tdcman, and a couple others. I think most are no longer around for various reasons.
-
True. Should help y'all come playoffs.
-
Great win by PC. I know they will take 1 game at a time, but I'm circling the Tullahoma game. Tough to go there and play.
-
What exactly was he referring to?
-
MM I see what you were saying now. I was off.
-
MM I think I have an idea of whom you may be referring to in the first part. If it's who I think you are correct he won't get it. The part I'm warm on I'm intrigued about. I know for instance there have been metro teachers coaching at local private schools and such. Could be interesting if someone like that is on your radar. Or someone in metro that has coached before but not currently. As for Mr. B. I know it's very debatable depending on who you ask. But like I said he was always good to me.
-
MM76 I was thinking of the former HC but if it's not him it makes me wonder of whom you are speaking of. I am assuming Mr. B must be who retired. He is a good man and was always good to me. As for who your money is on, is it an employee that might coach somewhere else?
-
Getting back on topic, who does McGavock hire? My guess is a former metro HC. I'm thinking a former eagle or cobra. Anyone hearing anything?
-
Bleacher I was actually talking about the brown from Overton. I am guessing He will apply. I agree I think AB gets Hillsboro. I don't think SW will apply. I could be wrong but I think he stays in RC.
-
Baskin I could see. Abner I dont see leaving unless it's for the pay increase. Waite I agree will probably put in. Brown will probably put in. Mose I would think is happy at CR.
-
Not sure why there would be 2nd interviews.
-
Tom LOD I believe did pass away on May 9 if the obituary I saw is correct. It is in the DNJ. I'm almost positive his name is Mike Skidmore. Someone please confirm or correct me if I am wrong. Great man that served our country and proud supporter of Riverdale football.
-
Personally I think a lot of counties hire from within, not just metro. And personally I don't see anything wrong with it. For those that point to all that is wrong in metro you fail to recognize all that is good. Metro has a lot of really good teachers and kids. Private schools might appear to have better teachers because of the scores. You have to remember that private schools admit who they want. Public schools take whoever walks through the doors. As far as athletics, PC has been successful in football and track. They have also been pretty successful in basketball. EN has seen success in football, track, and basketball. MW has had success in football and basketball. WC even had a good year in basketball a few years ago. For the larger schools CR has been successful in football and basketball. Hillsboro has seen success in football and basketball. There are successes.
-
Only if a current head coach is interested in MW. The others have been or will soon be filled. HL hired from within. Overton hired Broome. And I would be shocked if Hillsboro did not hire from within.

Is it possible for Overton to return to power ?
workinprogress replied to bleacher's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
Dark knight I also think SW did a good job. I have talked to him several times since he left. Good man and coach. Kind of figure little sweeper will stay where he is but didnt know. -

MM definitely called it. I think several maybe even most knew it was coming. Will Broome be able to keep Overton kids at Overton? Time will tell. If he can it should help other sports too which might be one of the reasons he was chosen. Dark night - is Overton really that much different than 2013 Andersons last year? I ask only because I really don't know. I would think it would be at least similar but correct me if I am wrong. I have seen Overton play the last several years and have thought that the talent looked comparable. But I have not been in the school itself in probably five or so years. Any chance little sweeper joins big sweeper? That could really help Overton. -
GB appreciate the info. Very well said and good luck wherever you land and hopefully it will be a better fit for you.

Twisted I get what you are saying and in a perfect world I agree as well. On the other hand, the TSSAA has a history of punishment for this type of occurrence. That is all I am going by. The TSSAA has in the past basically said through action that it is a team sport and therefore the team will be punished unless the head coach of the team is relieved of duties. As for the two teams working together and helping others it does show that the teams are learning life lessons which is great to hear about.

South Pittsburg Pirates’ Coaching Search

I see. Appreciate the information. Always enjoyed driving through SP. Great town and atmosphere. -
If you are going to shed light as a service to others why not shed the whole light. I don't know the new coach. I have no connection at all to Blackman. But as a fan it just seems like you have an agenda and that you are not being transparent. All I'm asking that if you are going to have this thread, if you really feel strong enough to post all that you have as a service to others as you stated, if you truly have the facts and are shedding light on something you think others should know, then why beat around the bush?
