Hats off to Pearl Cohn they gotta have the best high school band that I have ever heard. At first some of us sitting there in the staidum thought someone had some loud system coming down the road and then we figured out that it was their band.  They made quiet an entrance.

The people I talked to that went and watched PC play Sycamore last Friday night said great things about the PC band. That is truly a rare thing to hear from someone anywhere in Cheatham Co

My Favorite HS Band is Cloudland's Band. They're really small, but they are really good and a very big crowd pleaser. Their show this year was "A western Montage" and I believe it was really good! I went to 3 Marching Band Competitions this year and they were at 2 of the 3 and they got 1st place drumline both times, !st & 2nd place band, superior both times, and 1st place drum major at Greeneville band classic, their drum major was 2nd place of the DAY, beaten only by Dobyns Bennett! Their band may only have 19 people, but they have VOLUME!! If you get a chance to see them this year...you should!

To all those people who ask why band is so special and important and why it takes so much work, YOU TRY IT SOMETIME!!!!!!

I'll have to admit the Oak Ridge Band is better this year than they have been in the past but it will still take a long time to get them in the top! I will have to give a high 5 to the drum line and the improvement they have made. When I was in high school a million years ago being in the band was something to be proud of, I don't know that that is always the case now.

I am not sure I understand the black t-shirts of ORHS band, I can't understand why the can't wear school colors at least in their t-shirts.

I hope that the band continues to improve and that they will assist in instilling more pride to a GREAT Football program and Traditions! :thumb:

Oak Ridge's band hasnt been much of a marching band until two years ago. For years they did it as a fun thing, and they knew that they werent the best. Since it takes a few years to change a program like band, as the kids who were there when it was 'fun' gradaute and they get more kids in starting them as a competition band members will make them only get better. After playing for them while I attended we knew that our choice of music wasnt always what the crowd wanted to hear, but we used it as a way to prepare for concert season in which Oak Ridge is one of the best, if not the best in Tennessee. We always played really hard music in marching season and to counter this we did not do as much for general effect, or GE as its called at OR. Give them a few more years to transition to more of a competition band for marching season, and then you will most likely be able to consider them one of the best competition bands.

    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
