Sullivan South vs Daniel Boone

Boone vs South should be a great game if both come to play. For those of you expecting that stopping Hicks will be the key to the game consider this...In 10 of Boone's 11 games he has not been stopped. That is a credit to not only Sky but also his teammates. He was held to 46 vs Sullivan North but North dominated that game on both sides of the ball. Turnovers got North started and Boone never got on track. If North had played like that all year folks might have been talking about them and not South/Boone. Even MoWest gave 160+ yards to Sky.

But Sky is not Boone's only weapon - their QB Huff is excellent at running the offense and has had some big running nights while Masters also provides a good punch. Masters had 100 on Cherokee almost before Sky touched the ball. The Blazer defense has played well all year. Boone has the best speed they have ever had. Boone has also played well on special teams.

While Sky get the publicity because of his numbers this Boone team is probably the best TEAM that Boone has ever had. They play together well on both sides.

I'm not predicting either way but I am am sure that it will be more of a game that some South fans expect.

For those of your wanting some Boone numbers:

Hicks 53% of carries - 63% of yards gained

Huff - 6 TD passes - not bad for a team that only averages 5 passes per game, 400 + yards rushing

Masters - 3 returns for TD on special teams, 300+ yards rushing

Defense - 9 int with 2 returned for score

Hicks by game -

South Greene (22-147) 6.7 yards per carry, 1 TD

Greeneville (14-221) 15.8 ypc, 2 TD

Sullivan Central (26-184) 7.1 ypc, 1 TD

Cherokee (14-163) 11.7 ypc, 3 TD

Sullivan North (14-46) 3.3 ypc, 0 TD

Cocke County (20-121) 6.1 ypc, 2 TD

Morristown West (27-167) 6.2 ypc, 2 TD

Volunteer (22-242) 11.0 ypc, 4 TD

David Crockett (19-141) 7.5 ypc, 5 TD

Morristown East (33-215) 6.5 ypc, 2 TD

Elizabethton (28-250) 8.9 ypc, 3 TD

Season (239-1897) 7.9 ypc, 25 TD

I was 9-4 when I went to Boone, and we had a very well put together team. From what stats and such put up for this 2005 team, one would think that they wouldn't have much.

Wrong.

Hats off to the coaching staff and all the players. They bring every single thing they can to the table and don't let up. Hicks may get the press, but everyone else around him, D, and special teams do a spectacular job as well.

Boone Pride this Friday night baby!

I'd like to congratulate Daniel Boone on a great season...so far. I'd also like to congratulate Sullivan East with their winningest season in school history who if I'm not mistaken we shut out.

Boone will hit a dam this friday!!!!! Blow Tribe Blow

fans are rowdy in Sullivan County, but I guess the same can be said when the Musket Bowl comes around every year.

And thanks for the compliment, it'll mean a lot more when we "upset" your South team apparently. :thumb:

I think this will be a good hardfought game by both sides. South has to avoid allowing the big plays and making offensive mistakes. If they can do that I think they will win the game by a descent margin. If Boone can capitalize on South's mistakes this game can go either way. MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN.

    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
