Some great information on this job! But lets let the people who need to make the decision make it and leave the applicants up to them. Throwing mud is in no way what needs to be done. Show some class on this board please. If you are one of the ones trying to get a job by degrading someone else then I hope you get what you deserve. Many of those type people are not on this board anymore and i believe that those type remarks should be removed. This is a great board that should not have to worry about slanderous comments. Good luck Franklin County

Nine canidates have applied. I will mention some of the names in the rumor mill. There is a surprise that has not been mention. Though Dr Edmonson denies it, it is my belief that Coach Mantooth was forced out. I hope they hire a coach with class and not just football smarts. Remember, these names are in the rumor mill. Most of them have applied, but not all.

Coach Collins was once the head coach at JCM. He spent one yr as def coord at Franklin Co under Coach Mantooth.

Mike Danley, the freshman coach.

Steve Carson, former Rebels player and off coord, now an assistant at Smyrna.

Coach Britton who is applying for a lot of jobs.

Catlett, Swafford and Tracy Hayworth, who is a former Rebels , UT and Detroit Lions player who is an assistant coach at Southwest Baptist in Missouri. Cos Dematteo, a former Rebels QB, current Arena football player, whose father in law is Coach Lussier, former Ok Ridge Coach and current Father Ryan Coach.

Coach Mac McCurry, a former Rebel player and asssitant at Tullahoma, and former head coach at Moore Co and Marshall Co. Coach Mac is now a head coach in Ripley, Miss.

As previously said, this has been in the works for awhile and I believe they know who they want. I hear they will name the new coach within a couple of weeks.

A couple of fairly well known head coaches have shown interest or been contacted. I don't think this is the time to list those names, but they are good men.

Del, Coach Colquette did apply 5 yrs ago, but I am sure he will not be the new coach at Franklin Co.

The new facilities are great and the supplement is now up to par. A couple of good assistants are in place. Coach Mantooth was short 2 assistants this past yr. The Rebels booster club is very solid and the community will support the program. We need a hard working coach who is a c lass act and gets out in the community. Hopefully, he will have strong discipline and not get too close to the parents and allow them to have a say so in who plays what position.

Coach Mantooth is a great football coach and a class man. Good luck to him and Suzy.

Coach Lussier?!? :thumb: He's only been at Father Ryan for one season. I didn't think he would become tired of that program so quickly. If it is true though, it would be a great thing for Franklin Co. to get him. Great coach and a very well respected man!

I believe you misread the post. It is his son-in-law who is stated as applying.

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
