is it true that greeneville is getting a player that is suppose to be top 5 players in Kentucky next year. i have noticed no one has said anything about it. i am wondering if this is true. somebody help me out.

I can only assume that the earlier post was someone playing on the Wiggins transfer and poking fun. It would be great to see Jonathan Murner come back next year (I believe he was just a Soph. last year) but I have not heard anything about a transfer from Kentucky.

But, it wouldn't surprise me if true. While many consider G'ville "hickville" (for whatever reason) this is a great town within which to raise a family. We have one of the top-rated school systems in the State (Greeneville City Schools) and we have some solid industry, not to mention Tusculum College which is still growing. Greeneville will always have the opportunity to snag transfers because of its industry, Tusculum College, etc. (i.e. Jimmy Boone courtesy of Tusculum College and Antwaine Wiggins courtesy of LandAir). And let's not forget that G'ville is just a darn great place to live.

I have heard a rumor that one of the friends of the Greeneville coach is thinking of moving to Greeneville and has a son that is supposed be really good. I don't know if it is the same guy.

I have heard something about a kid from Louisville, Kentucky and I am pretty good friends with most of the team, the kid is supposed to be 6'6 and has scored close to 50 points in a few games this year in Kentucky!!!

Does Wiggins' father work for Land-Air?

I dont think it is taken too seriously, it is just that we hear that all the time from everyone we play and it really gets old. Parents move their children here to Greeneville and they move them away too. Murner came here last year and was an awesome athlete of course we recruited him even though his fathers brother lived here and he came up with a business opportunity. Well the business did not go the way it should have and guess what, they moved back to Florida. Did we hate to lose him sure but we did. However people never talk about the ones you lose just the ones you get. It just gets a little old. Other schools get new kids and people transfer in but nothing is said about them. South Greene got a football player from Kingsport that really helped their program this year but they have not had to defend that. I hope your visit to Greeneville is a good one because most of the people that are here pretty much like it here.

Actually it is - and yes, Greeneville does recruit. It recruited me 5 years ago from Florida - got tired of hurricaines, traffic, rude people, racism and crime. Looked for a place to raise my 2 teens. Found Greeneville listed in an article about "the best 200 small town in America". Did some DD and found a gem in the rough. A small college town with history, a blossoming arts scene, mountains in my backyard, a great city school system and oh yea - a great sports program. I've been to the Boro 4 times in 5 years to watch GV play basketball at States. This year I go 2 weeks in a row.The GV girls soccer team went to sub-state and the boys were ranked 6th in the state last year. What's more impressive is this is a school of <850 students and plays UP a division is every sport. My wife and I are professionals with advanced degrees. We've lived all over the world (world - not nation), I speak 2 languages and yet we're labled "rednecks" because we live in Greeneville. So be it - we love this town. It recruits you with it's charm and honesty. The problem is people from the big city can't understand how a small "hick" town can beat them it just doesn't make sense so they look for excuses like "they must recruit". Like I said - it does - just not the way you think it does.

Greeneville is a great place to live and raise a family.

There have been several posts not only on this thread but other sports threads concerning Greeneville's success in sports being a result of "recruiting". "You" mentioned in the post probably wasn't referring to you personally but to "you" collectively answering those others. You just happened to at the wrong place at the wrong time. Don't take it personally. The confusion is partly due to County residents given the choice of sending their kids to the city school if they pay tuition (although I think only 1 varsity BB player is from the county and he dosn't start). Also, people out of the area can't understand why anyone would move to Greeneviile. I think the previous post explains that. Come to Greenville and see for yourself.
