If they annoy you maybe you should take the sign off. Just a thought.

AMEN. This is ridiculous. And don't you know that I wear a sign to every game that says "If you sit or stand behind me - Please be the most obnoxious person here today!"

And don't get me started on how blind the refs are to these people. OFFSIDES! HOLDING! Get a whistle and your 300 lb. butt out of the stands and go call a game!

With out a doubt the P.A. These's guys think there doing play-by-play. They just love to hear themselves talk. The guy at Hendersonville has a good voice but screws the game up by trying to do play by play or football 101. He has been there so long that nobody has ever told this cat, hey man don't broadcast while the play is engaged. Also, we don't need to know who the cheerleaders are, that's a shot at the moms who think that it's cute.

Here's the truth! Go to Knoxville, Listen to Bobby Denton do the Tennessee game and learn. Remember, THERE"S A MARKER ON THE PLAY! Enough said.

When there are 1000 home fans and they are all talking about anything other than there own kids or there own football team, but on Saturday or Sunday be cheering there heads off to there favorite college or pro team.

Amen to that one buddy!! Never thought I would agree so much with someone from Smith County!! Last year at LA, all you saw in the stands were the parents and die hard fans( until later in the season when everyone realized how good we were). But on Sat. or Sun. you would see them all heading out to watch the mighty Vols and Titans! This really ticked me off! Mainly because most of them know nothing about football but were only going to show how High and Mighty they were! Get behind your hometown boys first!! I must admit that they came out in droves for those last few games though.

I know what you are saying, believe me! And you can't just move because you can hear them from one end to the other!! If they only knew how silly this makes them look!

I'm jumping in late to support Solomon in his anti-band stance.

My H.S. band was generally a non-factor except for my freshman year then they barely qualified for state. Next thing you know they're all wearing t-shirts saying "Football fields are for band practice". Those of us in athletics wanted to counter with "Parking lots are for band practice" but we never got it organized.

Don't get me wrong, I come from a musical family (and my brother in law's a band director in Kentucky). More now than ever band's it's own distinct competition and for them friday nights are nothing more than an obligation and a warm-up for their Saturday events.

The big issue at my h.s. was the fact that once halftime was over the band DISAPPEARED and there was a hole in the stands.

I know that doesn't happen as much here in TN but I agree the band should know better than to play when the game's going on. If it's happening the school administrators should step in and keep it from happening.

Likewise, cheerleading is also becoming a similar situation. What was once a role to support sports is now a multimillion dollar industry involving cheer academies and weekend competitions.

I'll be the one to say it. Solomon loves band and this has just been a forum to promote and support band. Solomon's goal has been achieved. Everyone has got on here and talked band all day long. He is glad they are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Thanks to all for contributing.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
