What is a "Gryphon?

 

St.George is aprivate school in Collierville, Tennessee. Gryphon has got to be the most peculiar in the state.

According to www.google.com a gryphon is some sort of medevil mystical character. The pictures resemble a 1/2 horse 1/2 bird looking creature.

 

It would definitely be interesting to know how they picked that mascot......

And then, St. Cecilia's in Nashville are called the Scarabs (some kind of Egyptian beetle).
