District 11AA

Cheatham is better and more experienced than last year. They are starting 4 seniors and a junior. They will have to call on that experience AND keep their composure if they want to do well in 11AA this year. Road games @ Sycamore and then @ Harpeth is a pretty brutal way to start the district schedule. We will get a good idea of where they stand by how competitive they are in these tough road games. The 3 Cheatham County teams get their final tune-ups for District play tonight.

11/28

Cheatham @ Hume-Fogg

Dickson Co. @ Harpeth

Kenwood @ Sycamore

Cheatham or Sycamore have no chance of winning at Harpeth. the student section is just too loud and when the team needs the students they come through in the nick of time. I have heard that cheatham got a new student section right down on the court and that might be a little intimidating or for that matter it might just get them the win. but when a player makes a mistake or show frustration the students dont let them live it down therefor making it real hard to play. im looking for Don to light up the score board but at the end of the night Giltner, the Caruthers Newton and Baker will have it in hand.

Harpeth just has a well-balanced ball team that is sure to create problems for all of us in the District. Whether it's 0,1 or a few guys sittin out, the Indians bring it every game

True and Baker played tonight despite a concussion from last week, he was the player of the game. Harpeth beat Dickson tonight pretty handlely. Harpeth's student section def shut up Dickson's tonight. They sat down after halftime because they couldnt be heard over us, we also shut down there best player, because of a mental mistake on his first shot. Lets just say AIRBALL. lol

Harpeth wins easily over Dickson. How is Dickson so bad year in and year out with all the athletes they have? You're right though as the crowd made a difference. Looking at early district scores it looks like its a Cheatham County district race between Harpeth, Sycamore and Cheatham. I think the rest is up in the air with a nod to Montgomery Central right now as they beat Houston County whereas Stewart County and Waverly both lost to Houston County by about the same score. Stewart barely beat McEwen though while Waverly beat Camden. Creek Wood was thumped by Station Camp. Fairview is well, Fairview.

Cheatham visits Sycamore this Friday in the district opener for both teams. The Cubs are coming off of back to back double-digit road wins over Hendersonville and Hume-Fogg. Sycamore is coming off of a victory over an improved Kenwood squad. This should be a good one. Harpeth @ Creekwood has the potential to be a tight game as well. If I am not mistaken, Creekwood defeated Harpeth @ home last year and has the ability to do so again if they play well. Any opinions about these 2 big 11AA games this Friday?

Obviously the 3 Cheatham schools seem to have a step up on everybody else but you have to guard yourself against looking at non district competition to evaluate everyone. Not taking anything away from Houston Co or Central but Stewart was playing for the 2nd night in a row as were we. We played a Station Camp team that might be talented enough to win our district the day after playing a very good Pope John Paul team. Friday will give a better idea of how we all stack up.
