It is that time of year, you got it right.The 3rd annual Gerry Bertier's 2A Playoff Pickem Contest. We has 19 contestants last year with FadePattern taking home the crown. Two years ago Big Country took home the the title Hopefully this year's extravaganza draws more interest and participants. Some of you may be asking, what do I win if I happen to overcome the odds and win this prestigous contest. Well this year's winner will receive the glorious honor of being the most profound expert on 2A football on Coach T for the next year (Certificate Available upon request). So here are the rules.

1. Must pick winners from the 1st round till the State Championship game, including the champion and score for the championship game, all at once. Only list winners from the 1st round till Semi-Finals. Only list a score for the Championship game.

2. Picks must be made before 3:00 pm November 3rd, 2006. Any after that will not be eligible to win.

3. You can not edit you picks post after 3:00 pm Friday. If you do this, you are automatically DQ.

4. You will receive points for each correct pick you make for each round.

1st round- 1 pt.

2nd round- 2 pts.

Quarterfinals- 4 pts.

Semi-Finals- 8 pts.

Finals- 16 pts.

5. If there is a tie at the end of the state championship game, the tiebreaker will be total pts. scored in the state championship game. Closet wins.

I would be shocked if someone else but Alcoa won 2A. A lot of people just don't realize how good that team is.I know they lost some great players in Dustin Lindsey and Brandon Warren. But! They returned most of their starters from the 2004 and 2005 team this year. This senior class is a huge reason why Alcoa has been on this dominant run. There are at least 10-12 3-4 year starters on this team. Alcoa was by far and away the best team Maryville played so far. Granted Maryville played without Tank Baker. Baker is a huge part of Maryville's offense. With that being said. Alcoa would still give Maryville a good game. Maryville has a great team. This is their best skill position team ever. They have a pretty good shot of making it back to Murfreesboro. Maryville has killed everyone they played except Alcoa.

What Alcoa has done to the region teams is amazing. Loudon,CAK and Sweetwater aren't bad at all. Alcoa has made them look like pee wee teams. I told an Alcoa fan at work. Maryville has their games over at halftime. Alcoa has theirs done in the 1st quarter.

That's going to be one of the top two or three games in the entire state in terms of being competitive football games this week. I want Fairview to win because I want to see them play Goodpasture again. They wouldn't get beaten by 50 the second time around guaranteed. MM has done an outstanding job at Fairview

Thats not a great guarantee!!I wouldnt put my socks on that bet!!
