Fulton at Pearl-Cohn

O.K.... I’m looking for a little Pearl Cohn information. I, along with others only know about your team’s tradition and location of your school in inner-city Nashville. Making it to round four is proof you're a solid program. Much like Fulton, you have plenty of athletes all over the field… We've heard about your athleticism, the size of your receivers, team speed, and your aggressive defense. These are your strengths.

Nobody knows better how a team can have off nights, sloppy playing, poor execution, untimely turnovers, and lackluster officiating. Don't take this comment as lack of respect but of a little confusion. On paper… you sound pretty dominant. So how did you lose your three games with this much speed & talent? Not to mention a very close game with Polk Co. It sounds like you have the game, but have not always closed the deal on the field. Yes… you’ve lost to some good programs. But they’re good… not great. Two of your three losses have come to teams with five losses.

I know you’re good… but how good are you? Is Pearl-Cohn a team that is gelling at the right time and making big plays to win?

What did these other teams with such mediocre records do to shut you down?

I don’t get it?

Well really and truly the only thing you can say is about it is that it's the coaching. Coaching can go a long way to win the game when the players aren't playing at the best of their ability. That's what makes the difference.

Good luck to Fulton on Friday..

Alcoa's pulling for you!!!

Thanks we are pulling for Alcoa too! On another note I have heard all about PC's recievers and about how you all have been on ESPN, but I really believe Fulton is underated year after year and look what has happened these last couple of years. Bottom line is yes you all apparently have the passing game down from what I hear, but how will your QB work under the pressure of Fulton D? *the finest defense in the state in my opinion* Especially since I hear your line is inconsistent, we might be up in his grill all night ;-p

i have been in knoxville all fall and im from nashville. ive seen both teams this year. pearl cohn is nashvilles version of fulton. both loaded with athletes and playmakers. both teams have great coaching staffs. both teams have good RB's (however rogan is clearly the better of the two). both teams have speed speed and more speed on defense. not only is PC defense fast but they ALL go to the ball and they make it a point to lay the wood on u. i saw ALOT of big hits on friday night. PC line is a little inconsistent at times but if they r on, watch out. the difference in this game will be that PC clearly has the better QB as well as their WR, #5. ive been around HS football for a while and i was in disbelief when i saw him. 6'5 230 and runs a 4.4. ran a punt back 90 yards where he broke several tackles, caught a pass and easily outran the defense, and caught a ball thrown up so high i thought i would be able to catch it by the water coolers. if any team has the athletes to stop him its fulton, but either way this game is going to be close because both teams playmakers will make their plays. no idea about the score, but i like PC in this one.

big country, ill be home for thanksgiving break and thought about heading up there, r u gonna be at the game?

I'll be there to see this one buddy. I thought about heading to west-TN to watch the Dyersburg vs Lipscomb matchup but I've just got to go support Coach Tony Brunetti in this one. He's done an amazing job this year taking over a team that lost 24 SENIORS (plus their starting sophomore fullback who broke his neck on a trampoline back in February). He was also dealt with the task of trying to replace a legendary coach in Maurice Fitzgerald (who quite frankly will never be replaced at PC regardless of win total). TB has overcame the odds this year, although I picked PC to win the region the coaches had them predicted to finish third back in the preseason, and made a magical run since their regular season loss to White House back in week seven. They have since won the Region 4-3A (the best region in 3A from top-to-bottom this year) crown, beaten Station Camp (unbeaten at the time), White House (avenging their earlier loss), & Sycamore (winners of five straight and red hot at the time) during that streak. All in all he should be mentioned for COY honors.

Go Falcuns. Eye'll bee pullin' fer my buddy Tadvols Falcuns agin' the Farrbirds of Pearl Cone.

We appreciate all the support from Blount Co .. which is by far the Top County for football in the state .... Fulton benefited greatly from playing Alcoa this year .. game started bad but they were able to weather the storm and came out with a hard fought win ... game could have went either way ... as far as the REBELS .. what else needs to be said .. like I have said before I will take Maryville at HOME against anybody ... includes any 5A team not to mention Morristown West .. West has a solid team .. I saw them scrimmage Fulton at first of year ... but beating Maryville ?? NOT GONNA HAPPEN .... ALCOA going to the BLACK HOLE .... they will climb out of the hole and on the the BORO .... GO ALCOA and MARYVILLE ,,, as for the Falcons they are lining up against a team that has as many athletes as they do .. its gonna come down to Coaching and who gets the matchups right ... I do think PC has the edge at QB .. Stinson still gimpy and Blair's inexperience but hopefully we can overcome any home field advantage they might have .. this one is too close to call !!! PC seems to have overcome the inconsistencies from early in year and rebounded to avenge earlier losses .... they are on a roll ... but rest assured Falcons will not give up as evidenced by the 4th Qtr comeback at Catholic and earlier matchup with Alcoa ...

5 teams fulton beat this year:

Austin East- Losses only to red bank(undefeated until losing to maryville last week in the 3rd round) fulton and catholic.Extremely athletic and had IMO the best QB in knoxville, and one of the best in the state.(a fulton transfer). They also had Anthony Anderson, an all purpose threat at primarily wr and db.He is committed to UT. fulton rolled and won it with ease.

Alcoa- 11-2 with losses only to undefeated 4a powerhouse maryvilleby 3, and fulton by 4. This is the a team that beat mccallie, another elite program in the state, and WILL win the title in 2a. You can count on it. Alcoa has 2 d1 prospects at reciever and both were shut down most of the night.

Catholic- 12-1 only loss to fulton 18-13. Beat the falcons in the first match-up 27-14 on a controversial call that swung a 2 td difference their way. Catholic beat several sound programs. Webb being one of them(d2 runner up i believe) Harrison smith was shut down in the running game but beat the falcons with his recieving. More then likely he will either go to UT or Notre Dame. I heard Boston College is in the mix now as well. The 2nd time around he was shut down completely and seemed almost non-existant.

Carter-12-2 was ranked in the top 10 in 3a most of the year. Fulton handed them both of their losses by a combined score of 92-10 i think. Carter was a solid run and throw team.

Tyner- not sure of the record, but a premier team from chattanooga. very athletic, and physical.

Look at the brief statement that I posted right above the "As far as Alcoa goes" comment and you'd see that I give all of these teams their due mention. BTW, Knoxville Webb beat ECS 17-14 to win the DII-AA State Championship.

Hey Ripper I also know that Fulton has an excellent staff. Coatney hasn't won two state championships by accident. The Blacks are also excellent coaches who have been coaching with heavy hearts throughout the duration of 2006. Yes Fulton does have a wealth of talent but you know as well as I do that coaching has to come up big somewhere along the way if you want to win a state title.

This one is going to be good and I will be there

If you were to take and hand pick the two most athletic teams in all of Class 3A from top-to-bottom then I'm sure that most would put both of these football programs right at the top of their list.

Pearl-Cohn: 10-3 overall (Champions of Region 4-3A)

Fulton: 12-1 overall (Region 2-3A Runner-Up): they avenged that loss tonight.

Both teams have talented backs that can get it done on the ground. Both teams have athletes all over the field defensively that will make their fair share of plays. Both teams have struggling kicking games. What both teams don't have is equal passing attacks. That is what I believe the difference in this one will ultimately be in the end and that's why I'm going with the Firebirds at home.

Pearl-Cohn: 20

Fulton: 14

catfish i been sayin all yr we goin all the way cuz we run it and now we just 2 wins away from bein champs. u ready to say the same thing?

pch football 2006...............dont play wit it!

firebirds............................keep the fire burnin!
