I thought about that game also, but I beleive Maryville has too much speed for Fulton.

Thats is a negative; Fulton is a team that would be very capable of beating Maryville. It would be a very good game though no matter who won. Alcoa, even though Maryville did beat them earlier has skilled enough players to also beat Maryville. Not taking anything away from Maryville; they proved they are one of if not the best team in the state Sat. evening. I really dont see anyone beating them 2 out of 3 in the state.

Everyone is capable, I just do not think Fulton would.

After listening to the announcer on the TV set after the Smyrna game, he said that Mayrville was the best team in the state. Maybe but I say that after all these years of dominace in 4A, why wouldn't Maryville move up to 5A and try to prove themselves as the best in the state in 5A? They could move up if they wanted to. But maybe they just like dominating in 4A like they have the past 10 years..... A wins a win right? Never play the biggest schools..... just a thought...

Bigger school means enrollment-11 per team at a time!

I share your frustration there FBE and that very thing has taken place on this very thread in subtle ways. That is trying to minimize Maryville's accomplihsments due to this or that. And if we defend our kids our team and our school we are accused of being arrogant and expecting everyone to bow down to Maryville. I don't expect any such thing. I just get tired of people trying to put Maryville in imaginary games, saying they would get blown out in them, and accussing them of being afraid to play them. I think MLReb, Pepvol and a few others struggle with ignoring it as we do. I know your love for the program and the reasons for it and I can relate to how you feel. It is really when people ignore us that we have to worry about though don't you think? I remember five weeks ago we played a stinker against Brainerd and people were taking bets whether it would Red Bank, Morristown West or Hillsboro to end our streak. We were tagged as vulnerable and the end was near. But we answered the bell. So lets just be gald we did and enjoy it. There are haters out there no doubt but there are also non Maryvillians who appreciate what we have been able to accomplish. Five State Champions were crowned this week and fortunately Maryville was again one of them. All four other teams accmoplishments are just as impressive and well deserved. Congratulations to all winners.

Thanks and your right. I meant no harm, but may have caused some. Sorry I did it. I should have just ignored the idiots!

This season is over. This team like many Maryville teams before it are sadly no more. I don't know if Maryville can beat Fulton or Alcoa next year should they play or not. Surly Maryville will play Alcoa, at their place. Two three-peat defending state champions in their respective classes facing off. Has that ever happened? In the paper Hillsboro said "They are coming back next year". Does Maryville have the hogs and horses to 4 Peat? Does Alcoa? Will GQ and company stay put and hungry, after all what do they have to prove?

It will be fun talking about it me thinks.

I actually think that Fulton would have a better chance than most against the Rebels...the main reason: they know what we're capable of. They hear about MHS absolutely all the time here in the greater Knoxville area and that makes for a more competitive atmosphere with greater familiarity. I mean, Alcoa was not the best team we played this year, and they usually aren't. But how familiar they are with MHS and the program better equips them for the competition.

And this is not to minimize the fact that Fulton is a great team...that would certainly help out as well :thumb:

The haters will always be there. It's human nature.

Many of you know that I'm a fan of numbers. And I'm the guy who pretty much always points out that numbers can be made to tell whatever story you want them to tell. However, in this case, there's not much a hater can argue against the fact that Maryville has won three consecutive state titles and 45 straight games. That equals dominance by any defintion of the word, and when you stack it up against excuses and "what ifs" the facts will always prevail.

Go Red Rebels!

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
