The Lake County Falcons lost 54-48 to Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin in the final day of the Marion (Ill) Holiday Tournament. The Falcons were a step slow and were outhustled and outmuscled by the Cyclones the entire game. Lake County scored only 14 points in the second half and four in the third quarter. The Falcons dropped to 11-3 on the season and 3-1 in the tournament. They play host Marion and tournamemt favorite tonight in the late game tonight at the Virgil "Cuss" Wilson gym. The Wildcates are 5-A in Illinois. Lake County had ten fans to support them for the matinee game. Sep Valentine hit four threes in the second quarter to spark Lake County to a 34-31 halftime lead. Channin Geanes and Russell Avery were held to four point each. The winner of the Marion-Lake County game will be the tournament champion. Details to be posted Sunday A.M. on this website. Coach Jimmy Whitby and the Falcons plan to make the 140 mile trip back to Lake County after the game. more...

This was in the local paper..Lake Co only had 14 second half points and Channen and Russel only had 4 points each..With Channen only scoring 4 points..probably not going to beat many teams!Maybe Lake Co can regroup and win against Marion!

this was a good tournment for lake county to play and get ready for the second half. Jacky Johnson wanst there but others got his pt. Patrick Roberson will be a good player for the next three years. They lost to marion by a point but i think that lake county will be better in the second half of the season than in the first. they show that they could score from beyond the ark. but the best thing goin for lake county is that brandon springer is gettin health and that is good news for lake county.

    • Congratulations to Huntingdon and Station Camp. Lots of good softball in Tennessee. Alcoa been media favorite last two seasons.
    • Im more of a Basketball follower than football and like I said we play what we have, there is no going and recruiting or even talking kids into transferring…..and to rebut about Memphis teams in finals I’ve watched Memphis East and Penny Hardaway with the enrollment of a single A team play up and dominate any and all challengers for years! They aren’t the only ones either Mike Miller and son at Germantown put together that super team a couple years ago that ran through the rest of the state! Other teams from Memphis or Chatt or Nash or any large populated area pop up and are relevant out of nowhere every year because they get an influx of talent be it from a new coach or AAU affiliations it happens in football also just like any other sport! I hope these two schools that close join together and get to play the team you support, then you may see it differently! I find it funny some of you think recruiting and resources don’t matter . The county schools get very little funding also but you don’t want to get me started on that part!
    • No doubt. ORC a good dude.
    • In a total classless move, Coach Simmons once again shows his true colors. Waits till the day after school is out to let everyone know he is leaving. Fails up to a community college job after a lackluster 2 year span at GH. And do not tell me about the state run that saved a sub .500 season and plenty of whippings by Cookeville and Lebanon.  Looks like the girls job at GH is cursed. Terrible MS program/coaches feeding what is turning out to be a joke of a HS team.
