I have a very dumb question to ask because I wasn't there. This was obviously a game that was already decided, right? That was a very heart warming thing to do by those girls. Two thumbs up.

It was already decided but i still feel these girls deserve a hand because they could have blocked these shots and made the score look different. They chose not to do that they chose to make this girl feel good about herself. Good job Marion.

I'm working on editing the pictures from this game now and I'm even further amazed at how not only did the Marion girls step back and give Sam the chance but that you can tell from the expressions on their faces they were wanting those shots to go in.

In this day and time with all the garbage that goes on in sports....mostly by adults...this is something everyone involved with should be ever so proud of. I couldn't be prouder of the Lady Jackets and their coaches, Kasey and Leon Woodlee for giving Sam the chance to be a real part of a real team.

And I'm still getting choked up over what outstanding sportsmanship was shown by the Lady Warriors of Marion County. You're all class ladies. Thank you for one of the best moments I've experienced in sports.

As a Grundy parent, I would like to also praise the acts by the coaches, players and parents of the Marion County team, as well as those of the Grundy team. When Sam made her first shot, she received not only a standing ovation from the Grundy fans, but many of the Marion fans did as well. This little girl is one of the sweetest girls, and has been soooo dedicated over the last two years. She has faithfully been everywhere, jumps when we win, cries when we lose, and for her to be able experience what she did Friday in that gym was just simply amazing. She will remember that night for the rest of her life, and I am sooooo proud of all the players, coaches and fans that got to make it happen, and experience it with her!

This is a very touching story. I would like to add my congratulations to both programs, coaches, and players. You helped to make a young lady's night very special. But you also helped to put things into perspective. Hopefully everyone who reads this will have a better understanding of what ture sportsmanship is.

When Grundy Co came to play the Tullahoma freshmen team the girl got in also. The THS players stepped back and let her shoot and she had four points. Infact the whole Tullahoma bench was on their feet the second time she scored and several girls and the coach hugged her while slapping hands. Tullahoma won by a lot and when i asked one of the girls that had had a very good game what her best moment was, she said "When that one girl scored on me it was just awesome !"

And hats off to Tullahoma too. It's probably getting more attention now because it was a varsity game, but it doesn't take away from any and all players and teams that have done the right thing when Sam has been on the floor in JV and freshmen games.

Thanks to all the kids who are "Doing What's Right."

DL.

I missed that game but I am proud of all the girls who would give this girl a chance to do what she loves.

So I tried to find pictures..not available yet?? please update when they are. This game is a true sportmanship at is best I guess thats why we havent heard about it on the news. Seems like only the bad fights and stuff make it to the news wish these kinds of moments could get out as well.

    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
