first of all, the C Daddy ment the "n word" as in all races. bc i have a friend thats on the basketball team that said after two of the African American basketball players walked out, he explained to the rest of the team that it just means ur pretty much disrespectful and what not. he also said that hes known plenty of white ones too. so he def didnt mean just African Americans at all. i really hope he will not be fired. bc he adds a lot character to our school. hes the man, and me, along with others, are behind him 100%. we love u man.

I am not saying you can't talk about the subject. I have seen enough threads head south pretty quickly when you start talking about coaches and throw in racial slurs and it could get ugly.

The Ooltewah assistant coach his is son so I think he would be out of the picture as well.

Maybe it can be fixed but I can't imagine the backlash the adminstration would get if they kept him.

It is just one of those lines you can't cross as an educator.

I wish the best for Coach Baker. Hopefully he can make it right. (which it sounds like he tried to do)

The Gym is very nice. The cheerleaders are very pleasant. Weather is cold.

Do actually call him C daddy? Talk about character...

Is Coach Wood still around? Didn't she coach them once last year when he was suspended for a few games?

What's this I hear about the Ooltewah varsity boys coach in hot water today about alleged racial slurs during the Red Bank-Ooltewah game Thur. night? I hear he may be suspended....

Has anyone heard from the people at Red Bank ? Would they even play a Ooltewah team that was lead by coach Baker?

    • I have no clue if Derek tried to talk some since into his dad or not about staying here. All he is going to accomplish is going from the oven to the frying pan. If I were the coach all Ale would freze over before I set back and watched one of my good players leave without a fight.
    • If this is true, South Gibson is taking a big chance. Passing on an experienced coach for a guy who has never coached at the high school level is a high risk move, especially in that district and region.
    • Dorian Eskridge was HVA's best back, 2011
    • Jo Byrns was a very solid team last year. Imo, I thought they presented the biggest challenge for us on our path to winning it all last year. I expect them to be in the conversation and one of the final few teams playing in Murfreesboro
    • I'm not sure you understand anything if you think DB's career and AD's career are comparable.  This is a terrible take.   Not to slight AD, He was a good player and he got better as he matured after high school.   But Desean had over 8,000 yards in HS and was a two-time Mr. Football.
