2priceless
If this is true, this guy has no place in coaching.

It's also mostly cloudy and it feels like 29 degrees.
broadbat
For gosh sakes, don't post anything negative about a high school coach on this forum, no matter the offense, the amount of news coverage or statewide interest. Gee, doesn't Ooltewah have a nice gym? Sunny tomorrow, with a high of 50.
wrestler555
first of all, the C Daddy ment the "n word" as in all races. bc i have a friend thats on the basketball team that said after two of the African American basketball players walked out, he explained to the rest of the team that it just means ur pretty much disrespectful and what not. he also said that hes known plenty of white ones too. so he def didnt mean just African Americans at all. i really hope he will not be fired. bc he adds a lot character to our school. hes the man, and me, along with others, are behind him 100%. we love u man. mtnman
I am not saying you can't talk about the subject. I have seen enough threads head south pretty quickly when you start talking about coaches and throw in racial slurs and it could get ugly. The Ooltewah assistant coach his is son so I think he would be out of the picture as well. Maybe it can be fixed but I can't imagine the backlash the adminstration would get if they kept him. It is just one of those lines you can't cross as an educator. I wish the best for Coach Baker. Hopefully he can make it right. (which it sounds like he tried to do) The Gym is very nice. The cheerleaders are very pleasant. Weather is cold. Do actually call him C daddy? Talk about character... Is Coach Wood still around? Didn't she coach them once last year when he was suspended for a few games?
tennesseebball
Can someone explain to me how the "n" word applies to white people? I am confused. Let me add that I am a white person and I have never been called that word or have I heard it used in that way. I think that is a cop out. There is no way he will keep his job. mtnman
I think some people believe the "n" word could apply to anyone who acts like a thug --- black or white.
tennesseebball
I have never heard it used that way and even if that were true, You have to have better judgment to NOT use it. It is too sensitive of a word. Poor, Poor, judgment from someone who is suppose to be a role model.
bearmen
QUOTE(hiway58 @ Jan 19 2007 - 09:56 AM) 826337477[/snapback] What's this I hear about the Ooltewah varsity boys coach in hot water today about alleged racial slurs during the Red Bank-Ooltewah game Thur. night? I hear he may be suspended.... Has anyone heard from the people at Red Bank ? Would they even play a Ooltewah team that was lead by coach Baker? thorough97
Red Bank would have no choice in the matter than to play them. They are in the same District.
2priceless
I have heard it used in reference to worthless people in general, but it was very poor judgement to have used it in this instance. The black players had every reason to have felt offended.
wrestler555
coming straight from the dictionary... "Slang: Extremely Disparaging and Offensive. a person of any race or origin regarded as contemptible, inferior, ignorant, etc." there ya go.
